Is Acura CPO worth it?

I've come across a CPO 2020 RDX with 17k miles for about $1000 cheaper than the offers I've received on a new 2021. Is Acura CPO worth it? I see it elevates the full warranty to 7 years / 100k miles. Seems like a good trade-off (17k miles for warranty+$1000 savings) to me, but am curious to hear others' impressions. I've never owned and Acura before.

Depends on a price you pay. Keep in mind that new 2021 are selling 10% bellow MSRP. Warranty, it depends if its through Acura or 3rd party. If its Acura warranty, you can buy one yourself for around 2k. How much are you really saving by going with a used 1 year old car?
if you are getting extended warranty and 1k off, its 3k savings. Bad deal. 5-6k should be minimum that you save.

It's the official Acura CPO warranty. I've received quotes around $40,800 for a 2021 A-Spec vs. $39,800 for this 2020 CPO A-Spec. So the CPO would amount to $1000 in price savings + $2000 in warranty benefits, for a total of around $3000.

I have no idea how long I'll own the car, but I'm a little hung up on the fact that the trade-in value on a 2020 A-Spec with 17k miles is already below $34k. Thus, my drive-off loss is worse than a new car.

I'm thinking the CPO doesn't make financial sense unless the price drops another $2k (for total saving vs. new of $5k). Am I thinking right?

bottom line is you getting 3k discount for a car that is 1 year older, used and you know nothing about it.
If it was me, 3k would not be enough. I would either pay 3k more for new 2021, or seek 5-6k discount on a used one.

Okay, that's where my head was at, but just wanted a sanity check.

keep in mind that dealer makes a lot more profit on used car sale vs new one. They might try hard to steer you towards used car and try to talk you out of new, its all games, they just want more profit on the transaction. Dont listen to them, always do your own research and decision making!

BTW, if you go with new car, the importance of extended warranty is less important, you might consider skipping it. In this case its only $1k more for new one, should be simple choice?

agree, curry acura will sell you same Acura warranty for half price that average dealer will quote. The dealer will make it sound like extended warranty is worth $4k, but its more like $2k.

I ended up skipping on the CPO, in part, after realizing it was FWD. Why does Acura even bother with those? SH-AWD is part of the attraction.

What I've noticed is that prices vary greatly from area to area... The Dallas area seems like they have the lowest prices in the US.

I wanted a very specific color and AWD, and the one I got was one of two available nationwide at the time and with only 3,300 miles. Also, I have a 6 year bumper to bumper warranty and 7 years powertrain with an inservice date of July 2020... better than a 2021 in every way in my book.
