2024 RDX will only be available with SH-AWD

I was surfing the net looking for info on the 2024 RDX (I own a ‘22 Tech FWD). I found that you can build a ‘24 RDX on Acura’s website now but had SH-AWD as the only starting option. I read an article on carsdirect.com that said the FWD RDX will no longer be made starting with the 2024 MY. Makes sense as other manufacturers are only offering AWD options these days. I live in So Cal so AWD is not that necessary here. The dealers near me carry more FWD Techs that SH-AWD Techs. I had a certain budget when I bought and decided to forgo the AWD option even though I highly considered getting it. I still love the way the car drives with FWD. Anyway, it looks like everyone is gonna have to pony up more $$ to buy a ‘24 RDX. It appears pricing only increased by a little though compared to the 2023s if you compare apples to apples.

Get a 22 CPO FWD. Same car, much less money.

I’m kinda glad I bought when I did even though we paid MSRP back in Dec of 2021. MSRP was way less and my interest rate is only 2.09 percent for a 6 year loan. Can always payoff early but at 2.09 percent I’d rather park my money in a higher interest savings account earning 4.3 percent or more.

I got a 2023 Aspec advance for almost 8K under MSRP..only had 4000 miles. It was the GM's car for a few months. Plus it has the 7 year CPO warranty.
IMO much better deal then a brand new one with only a 4 year / 48000 mile warranty. I would have never paid MSRP.

SHAWD many not be noticeable in sunny California, however drive in snow, down pouring rain with slick road or icy conditions - that SHAWD is like a tractor. In dry conditions, you’ll never do a burnout or spin the tires, as the system puts the power down efficiently. Only downside, is it’s a permanent AWD system, so mpg will be less. Personally, I’d alway buy a AWD or FWD - as you never know when you’ll need that tractor traction.

I'm also in SoCal and agree with your assessment, but SH-AWD isn't just about needing it in inclement weather. It makes the car significantly more dynamic and fun to drive, even in dry conditions.

Being able to use the throttle to rotate the car and influence the tail in turns is the experience I paid for. Power oversteer simply isn't possible with FWD. To me, SH-AWD is the RDX's secret sauce.

Agreed. AWD especially in the RDX has so many advantages, it was definite must have - and comes in handy daily.

Good move by Acura, as it should be! Cars have 4 wheels and all of them should be powered IMO. In NJ and the northeast it’s very hard to find a FWD RDX as most dealers only carry the proper SH-AWD models.

Even in a sunny, snow free state the improved handling and cornering of a AWD car is always a benefit, unless you drive like a little old lady all the time (then please pull over when I get behind you). This is of course unless you can have a RWD sports car, I will make one exception!
