I have a deposit on a 2022 RDX Advance Model. For those of you who have already purchased, I have two questions.
1. What is your opinion of the panoramic camera? I’ve had the opportunity to drive a 2021 Lexus RX 350:with a panoramic camera and the camera is great….wondering if the RDX camera is just as good.
2. I hear the 2022 Advance has fold-in mirrors. Do the mirrors change position when backing up? Again, the Lexus RX 350 mirrors change position for backing up.
the Lexus RX 350 is a little too large for me but I do like their features.
1. I haven't had the opportunity to drive a 21 RX 350 but the RDX panoramic camera is pretty average in my opinion. I've been in a Macan with the surround view camera and I thought that had better resolution and more customizable layout. I wish Acura would allow you to move the surround view portion of the camera to the right side of the screen, which is instead unused essentially since it just shows a large camera icon. See pic below.
2. The Advance does have power folding mirrors. They will tilt down when reversing as well if you move the mirror toggle on the door switch to select which one you want pointed down.
yes, I mean tilt. Do the tilt automatically when you put the car in reverse?
thanks
yes, but only one mirror tilts. This is controlled by the switch on the door where you select which mirror you want to adjust. If you have the switch on the passenger mirror, that mirror will tilt when you put the car in reverse. Same with the drivers mirror.

This is very informative. Can the 360 view be disabled so that the backup camera takes up more space?
There used to be complaints from Advance owners that the resolution of the backup camera was worse in the Advance with its 360 cameras, that for the lower, non Advance models that lacked the 360 cameras. Has that been fixed?

I don't have first hand knowledge but somebody asked the same question recently and the answer posted was NO.

The camera resolution actually appears to be the same between the advance and non-advance to me. The reason it looks worse in the advance is because it has to share the screen with the 360 cameras, so the effective resolution is less since the display has to shrink it down to fit.

That doesn't explain the more grainy image. With same number of pixels, cramming more objects should result in a less grainy image. It appears the camera is inferior or maybe the image processing processor didn't have enough horsepower to process images from all the cameras at a high enough resolution.

So far, I haven't been able to it figure out if you can. The (limited) options they give you for changing settings on the camera all seem to deal with the reverse guide lines.

The left-most icon at the bottom of the screen in the image posted by jhstl will toggle the ground view (360 view). You can also use the Camera button at the end of the wiper controls. In fact, I use that button for all of the camera view functions on my 2020 Advance. Just keep pressing the button to cycle through the available views in backup mode and forward mode. For example, as I approach my garage, I hit the camera button and the forward camera is activated. As you press the button, the ground view is shown, then the side view is shown (using the cameras on the side mirrors) or the wide front view is displayed, which is great when you are pulling forward out of a parking spot with a large vehicle on either side of you. The yellow guidelines in each view provide clearance information that is quite useful. I don't recall the clearance distances, but it's all in the owner's manual.
