2022 Lexus NX Leaked

I think the RDX front still looks much much better, but the rear of the new NX does look a lot more interesting, if not a bit over-styled. The RDX rear is just so incredibly boring. Also interesting to see that the new headlights look an awful lot like the Acura Jewel Eyes...

But most importantly, it looks like they finally got rid of the trackpad, the infotainment screen is much bigger, and there's a fully digital dash.

I'm sorry but I just don't know why Lexus keeps putting that butt ugly grill on their cars. I mean that thing is so darn ugly! I think their cars are well made but I positively can not get past that front end. They must love it, they keep pushing it on the other cars too. Someone needs to smack their designers up side their heads.

Thanks for sharing. It looks to be a good looking car, though I'd like to see it in some different colors rather than a dark grey with a grey backdrop (whose brilliant idea was that?)

I actually don't like the rear of this new NX. I think it's too busy with too many different angles and different materials. The tail light design is very sleek, but the bottom 1/3 kinda ruins it for me. Overall, I still prefer the look of the RDX A-Spec, but if this thing were out a couple years ago, it would have definitely gotten a looking over. The current NX in my opinion is pretty unattractive. But I'm also one of the minority who actually like the "Predator" Lexus grille, so maybe my tastes just suck.

Isn't the NX just the Lexus version of the Venza? From what I hear, the Venza sells much better and prob has stolen some Lexus customers when comparing the current versions of the 2 cars.

After 3 years, the RDX still looks sexier and nicer. The exterior isn't bad. But interior is screaming Toyota. I am not saying it's a bad thing. But expectations were higher from Lexus.

Just looks like a bigger version of the UX which isn't really all that exciting.

The cars I'm considering are Tesla Model Y or Mustang Mach-E. Would like to try both and make a decision.

CNET has all the pictures since the video keeps getting taken down.

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/pictur...9DLVFsRzM4dw..

Personally I like the NX styling, and would have considered it if it were larger, but it’s too small as a primary car, even for a small family with bad backseat space and half the cargo area of the RDX. If they’ve made the new one bigger, I might consider it again, especially if it gets the Prime treatment of the RAV-4.

Yeah I don’t mind the NX exterior styling, old or new. The interior is cheesy though, which is typical for Toyota. The Venza actually looks better inside. Looks like Lexus might have finally ditched that ugly champagne-tinted silver dash trim though, which is about 10 years overdue.

But I agree, the NX is a smaller size class than the RDX. The RX is its direct Lexus competition and I’m curious how that redesign will look. We all know how it’ll drive though...which is the deal breaker.

Pretty slick. Maybe too much so.

Modern SUVs (or CUVs) are becoming much better in styling, aerodynamics, safety and efficiency but at the cost of "utility". My RDX is only inches smaller in exterior length and width than my 1st gen Pilot but has much less cargo, seat, head, ass and leg room. And the 360 visibility doesn't come close. Of course, the RDX meets my current needs better. The days of hauling raw materials back from Home Depot are pretty much behind me.

Yeah, the Pilot was butt-ugly but I saw it mostly from the inside and I loved driving it for almost 16 years.

If we're talking about luxury/premium SUV/CUVs, you are 100% correct.

It's becoming increasingly more annoying driving a car low to the ground, because nobody can fucking drive anymore and I can't see more than a car or two ahead. Drove in rush hour for the first time in a while last week and I was nearly running into people constantly. Does nobody fucking know how to look as far ahead in traffic as possible to anticipate braking? Or maybe because these cunts all have their heads buried in their phones? Literally was slamming on my brakes behind fucking assholes in their Grand Cherokees and Lexus shitwagons. I fucking hate people.

The official reveal is tomorrow (Friday) but it looks like the whole thing got leaked again.

The rear looks way too overstyled, like the new Sienna.

Not a fan of the styling and the system looks so slow to startup. Hope it's just because it's a pre-production version.

If you think everyone else around you is the asshole, you have to consider whether you’re the asshhole. Maybe don’t tailgate?

Sometimes it just works out that way. Way too many people that are totally distracted while using the phone. I know they are driving a vehicle with hands free tech. But no, they are to stupid to configure hands free so they hold phone to the ear or in front of their face using the phones speaker phone. Maybe not assholes but dumb fucks.

It doesn’t look any bigger in the video than the last gen. Too small for me too. I considered the RX instead of the RDX but negged it, mostly for the styling, but also for the overall feel of it. Too sluggish and soft.

Looks like they dropped the touchpad. Now has a large touchscreen. Also available will be a hybrid and a plug-in Hybrid (from the RAV4 Prime). Acura, are you watching?

A Brooklyn driver calling me an asshole? Kettle, meet pot. By your statement, I'd suspect you're precisely one of the driver's I'm referring to. That, or you actually abide by Deblasio's asinine speed limits and pat yourself on the back for making the roads safer. Leaving two car lengths in stop-&-go traffic is plenty, but if the jabroni in front of you is slamming on his brakes because he's completely uninvolved with actually paying attention to what's in front of him, it can be frustrating to say the least. Again, if you've never encountered this being in Brooklyn, my God ...

Oooooh, Lord, give me strength. I wanted to leave this alone, but I'm not strong enough.

C/D Testing:
0-60
RDX: 6.6s
RX350 6.9s

5-60
RDX - 7.0s
RX350 - 7.1s

1/4 mile
RDX: 15.2s @ 93MPH
RX350: 15.3 @ 92MPH

30-50MPH:
RX350: 3.5s
RDX: 3.9s

50-70MPH
RX350: 4.9s
RDX: 5.2s

Braking, 70-0
RX350: 174ft
RDX: 177ft

So, tell us again how the RX is sluggish but the RDX isn't? And NYC is known for their pristine roads where you can really let it rip around corners and care more about handling than ride quality, right? Yea, the decade I had the misfortune of driving thru that city, I don't think I encountered any potholes or generally terribly paved roads. Nope.

The RDX is quick enough for a hauler compared to anemic offerings like the CR-V or RAV4 (non Prime version), but it's no performance machine.

If all you care is acceleration from low speed, for sure go elsewhere and maybe go electric, but for handling, RDX can out corner a lot of cars that pretend to be sporty. As long as you know how to extract the best of it and are willing to push it, you will get great rewards. As for acceleration, I suggest K&N and Hondata/KTuner, I find with these the acceleration and throttle response is fine for 99% of the time.

Back to the topic, the new NX looks like a total package, and I bet it is going to slice into RDX sales. I don't think Acura will stage a strong defense for the MMC. Just gut feeling.

The main threat I see from the NX is a good hybrid option that Acura has no answer to. With the price of gas going the way it is, a RAV4 Prime type of option in the NX lineup would be hit. Already there are people paying $5K+ over MSRP for a RAV4 Prime.

Well technically I didn't call you an asshole, I just said that people who think everyone else is the asshole are usually the people who are actually the asshole. And I don't think you're proving me wrong.

Is the new NX a rebadged Venza? I actually cross-shopped the '21 Venza against the '21 TLX. When I settled on the TLX, I gave up about 63% additional fuel economy.

From what I have read, yes. With the NX having the added possible plug in which the Venza does not have.

I test drove the 21 Venza before buying the Lincoln, it was not as smooth riding and quiet inside as I had wanted. Felt and heard every expansion joint. Igave up a lot of MPGs as well.

Wow. Really liking the NX350 F-Sport. Lexus is really doing a good job evolving their headlight swoosh and integrating it into their designs better. The new NX and IS look very handsome. Interior looks good too.

I do like how they made the spindle less pronounced. It's not entirely gone but it almost looks like the typical big mouth grille found in other makes.

I’m confused by people comparing the NX to the RDX. The NX is a level down in terms of size class. The uniqueness of the RDX is it’s blend of sportiness and space. If all a buyer cares about is the former, then the NX is part of a very crowded field.

What do you mean? The NX is right in the same segment as the RDX: compact luxury crossover. A size down would be the UX.

I think it's hard to say exactly where the RDX fits. The RX is bigger, and offers a third row, so it's perhaps better compared to the MDX (and most do). But the NX is so much smaller as to not even seem to be in the same class. RDX fits right in the middle between the two.

Is it that much smaller? The NX is only 4 inches shorter and 1 inch narrower than the RDX. Dimensionally it's virtually identical to the GLC. The 4 inch difference is the same difference between an Accord and a Camry, and I don't think anyone would say that the Camry is so much smaller than the Accord...

I cross-shopped the NX and the RDX before buying my 19 RDX, and the NX definitely felt "tighter" inside. The current NX is based on the previous Gen RAV4...FWIW.

Yeah maybe not much smaller on the outside but so much smaller inside, just like the GLC - my brother in law had a GLC and it was so cramped with us all inside. My RDX fit us all so much better. The RDX is about the same price though, so it is a fair comparison but somehow it feels like "punching down." Same thing with the MDX to the RX.

The RX is the main competitor to the RDX, imo. The NX is more like a CX-5. Lexus dimensions are kinda “fake” because of their bulbous body styling. But next time you pull up behind one, notice how quickly the sides narrow toward the roof, cramping the interior volume.

I personally find the new NX's exterior much more cohesive, "tighter", and more upscale. Whereas everything on the NX is sharply angled and nicely trimmed with chrome (rear reflectors, side mirrors, side window and lower bumper trim), the RDX's rear bumper and side mirrors look like afterthoughts found on any economy CUV...and seems like its designers couldn't figure out what to do with the D-pillar so they hijacked the floating roof look from Nissan/GM. I will concede though that the interior is where things are the complete opposite and the RDX looks a million times better.

I prefer the looks of the RDX both inside and out. The front grill of the NX is a bit much. Only draw for me would be the hybrid drivetrains, especially the plug-in, and perhaps seat comfort, but I would need to try one to know for sure about the seat comfort.
