2020 RDX Tech iPod issues
Hi all,
I have searched and I didn't really find what I was looking for so I apologize if this is covered. My wife and I just bought a new 2020 RDX Tech and we love the car. We listen to our iPod a lot while in the car since we have about 100GB of music on there. What I have noticed is that the longest the iPod will play is about 10 minutes before it cuts off and just stops. If I reboot is, it starts playing again but not where we left off. I have tried a new cable, a new iPod, and even reset the iPod. I wiped the iPod as well and reloaded all of our stuff and still no luck.
I know the iPod is so out of style now but given the music that is loaded on there, I don't have space on my phone. What I have noticed is that when it is playing normal, the iPod screen shows what is playing as does the car. When the iPod disconnects, the screen shows 'OK to disconnect' just like where it is ejected from a PC. We thought that myabe the auto idle stop thing had something to do with it that didn't work either so I am confused now. This is not as frustrating as much as it is annoying. The ride is amazing and if we can get this figured out, I think we are all set.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

I’m guessing it’s a long shot that there’s a solution but maybe start with telling us which kind of ipod it is. I’m guessing it’s a “classic.”
You might have to transfer your music to USB memory stick, or upgrade your ipod. Some here seem to report the newer iPods Touch work fine.

It is the 160GB classic. I went out and bought the new 256GB iPod touch and it had the same behavior. What would be the downside to a USB stick? When I did that in my last car (Lexus RX350), the system would not let me choose what I wanted to play so I was stuck with it just playing everything on random.
Thanks

No input here on the iPod issue, but when using an USB stick, if you use .flac files and have them properly tagged, you can select individual songs, select an individual artist or album, and even create and play a custom playlist. I haven’t tried .mp3 files, but I would think they should work the same way.

Someone seem to suggest iPod worked after upgrading to 1.2.1 version of the software in the infotainment system. The latest update, 1.2.2, seem to be broken at the moment. So maybe once you upgrade to the latest the iPod might work ?
For now, you could use the aux in, annoying to have to browse and play in the iPod itself.
Or like others suggested use USB, artist, album, playlist etc are possible with USB.

I dusted up my second gen nano nano, connected it to RDX and it works. I am on 1.2.2 version software. Definitely played for more than 10mts.
I had forgotten that I had one and now thanks to this thread it has some use 😁

Thanks. I am on 1.2.2 as well I believe. My iPod worked flawlessly in my other car so I know it's not the device. I will keep trying to see what deal is before I go to the dealer. I wonder if it has to be with the car not liking the file format or the size of the iPod. These are synced from Apple Music on my MAC.
