2019 A-Spec replaced with 2022 A-Spec Advance!!
I could not refuse this deal and honestly, I cannot believe the resale value of my 2019 RDX ASpec. I had 65,000 miles on the thing after owning it for 3 1/2 Years. I had one of the very first 19 RDX's so I went through all of the Infotainment Blues that were frequent back when the car first came out.
I was shocked when I got an email from my Dealer that "They wanted to buy my car..........for $34,500!!!" Are you kidding me? I checked it out and it was real, so since I paid the car off in 3 years, I had all equity, so I said "What the Hell". I no longer am working full time, so the car won't get anywhere near the mileage my 19 racked up, and now I'm back under warranty and have all of the Advance features I could not get with an ASpec in 2018/9, so I went for it. Paid list for the car, but no more.
The only options I took were the 'Welcome Lights' and "Illuminated Door Sills'. I think they will add a touch of class to the thing. (They have yet to be installed)
Anyway, just got home with it, but took some pictures of the two machines while I was at the dealer trading it in. Here they are. Damn hard to tell the 2 cars apart, so my goal of getting a new car without anyone really noticing it is easily acquired.

Congratulations - guess Red is one of your favorite colors. Like the new wheel design on Red, and the front bumper refresh makes it look taller. Yep, wish they had all the advanced features when I bought my 2021 Aspec SHAWD.

Larry. You ain't kidding. Having the speed limit sign and speedometer in the windshield view area is totally bizarre! It's cool, but I have to get used to it.
So far, I have just driven it home and parked it. Tomorrow I will investigate the differences, but I have to admit that when I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and the mirrors folder in, that was sweet. As was returning to the car and opening the hatch with my 'foot swing'. The 19 A-Spec did none of this, so it adds a little bit to the 'new car' feel, especially since the visual inside and outside is very much the same between the cars.
Here's what I got from the dealer that pushed me over the edge, so to speak, with regard to going for it. I can't understand how they can give me that much for the 65K 19, but I am not arguing. I would suggest that anyone in my position who is thinking of doing the same check out and see what your car is worth. The dealer financial guy said that the used market is nuts right now and that's why I was getting so much for it, but you could tell he wasn't pleased that CARFAX sent this quote to me. I am sure he would have offered less if I didn't have the screen shot below with me
PS - My car was in excellent shape, no accidents, and I got new tires last year. I suppose I could have dogged him to go up to $35, but I was not pressing my luck. In CT, the trade value is deducted from the cost of the new car with regard to sales tax, and that's a lot right there. All in all, I was thrilled with the trade in

Nice.
Isn’t increased trade-in value becomes a wash because you are also paying more for a new car ?
Few years back I bought my car for 10% under MSRP, now you lucky if you get it at MSRP.

The camera is a radical departure from what I am used to. I had gotten really good at backing out of the driveway and parking spots with the 19 A-Spec camera, but this one is so different. I still have to wrap my head around the 360 view. As others have stated, it's not really super clear. It's good, but it's not "HD" like. I need to play around with the settings tomorrow.
Anyway, tomorrow I am off on a trip to Mass to have a quick visit with a friend. Upon return I should have a better understanding of the car. Thanks for all of the kind words!

the only way trade-in would be a better deal now if say they give you $4k more for a trade-in than a they would few years ago. Otherwise if they give you $4k more and you pay $4k more, its same thing…

OK all. Just got back from my 180 mile round trip into Massachusetts, that included a 7 mile, 3 MPH backup (which really sucked, by the way, and of course was on a section of I-91 with no exits!!)
Anyway, first off, I take back what I said about the noise level. This car is far superior to my 19 RDX with regard to noise. There is road noise, but there is not a peep of wind noise and overall the thing is pretty quiet. I am not sure why I didn't notice it last night. Maybe the whole newness of the thing.
I found that my car was in NORMAL mode. I don't recall there being a NORMAL mode on the 19, but to be honest I hardly ever changed mode - maybe in the snow. Normal mode seemed fine to me, but on the highway I switched to COMFORT mode, which is what my 19 stayed in most of the time. My wife and I noticed that it made a difference, mostly with road bumps. Instead of shaking or feeling the bumps, the car sorta 'bounced' instead. It reminded me more of a luxury type feel. I then switch to SPORT mode and I could easily feel the road better, and the bumps more pronounced. It will take more runs with the car, but I can confirm that turning the dial does in fact make a difference.
The 5.1 audio is very similar to the 5.1 in my 19, only there seems to be better definition between the Front Left, Front Right and Center. In my 19, information that was only in the Front Right or Front Left seemed to come closer to the center than it did in the old DVD-Audio based ELS system. In the 22, it's still not 'pinned to the FR/FL corner, but it's better. I verified this with a test track that only sent signal to each channel.
I made a quick attempt to connect wireless carplay but could not get it to work. Later, I found that SIRI has to be active. I hate SIRI. Tomorrow I will try it with SIRI turned on.
The ride in this car is much better than the ride in my 19. My 19 did have 65,000 miles on it, so that does have a bearing, I'm sure, but driving the 22 I could feel a distinct difference driving both on the highway and on the back roads. It's hard to describe, but it just feels better. I really like the new steering wheel.
We got home just as darkness was approaching, and the interior ambient lighting became visible. Very cool. It's currently blue. It was in the door storage bins, the door opening handles, in the seam above the glove box, and along side the middle console, as well as both foot wells. My "Why do you need a new car" wife thought it looked nice.
The seats! Wow. Coming from the 19 A-SPEC seats, these things are very comfortable. Also, there is some sort of on-screen diagram that appears on the display when you adjust them. I can't quite seem to figure it out, but didn't spend a lot of time on it. My wife says that the passenger seat is the most comfortable car seat she's ever sat in! (That's good)
I am getting used to the camera now. It's cool that you can turn it on a low speeds. The 360 view still takes some time to get accustomed to.
I took by Blackview 900S 2CH DashCam out of the 19 before I traded it in, so I have to install it (or replace it with a 900X) soon. I got used to having the protection of a recording of what's going on in front and back of the car. Had quite a few close calls and it was nice to be able to go back and relive them! So many wacko's out there running lights and blowing through stop signs, it helps if you have proof that whatever happened happened the way you said it did and not being stuck with some other slug's word.
So, bottom line: I LOVE THIS CAR!!! It's great. It's fun to drive. I love the Advance features (which I did not have in the 19) and 200 miles in I am very pleased I made the change. Time will tell. I Can't wait to hear from tecwerks and others on how they make out with their new cars.
PS - I decided not to swap out the tires this time (for the 19 I had them put Pilot Sport A/S on for the sale). I just couldn't swing the extra cash, but on this one trip they were pretty good. Did not notice any shortcomings. Again, time will tell.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Blasted around town in sport mode this morning - WOW! Very cool. Lot more responsive than the old 19.
I got the CARPLAY to work. You have to go to your iPhone Bluetooth connections, select the little (i) for Handsfreelink, then move the 'Allow Carplay' slider to ON. Duh!
It then worked, but when I tried to go to USB, of course a message appeared on the car screen that CarPlay must be disabled to use the USB port. Swell
Speaking of the USB port, they moved it and turned it 90 degrees over. In doing so, we lost a little room in the storage nook it's located in. See the picture below:
As for the charger pad, here's a good look at it. My iPhone 12 Max fits nice on it without issue. My little storage thing I bought for the 19 actually fits very nicely horizontally behind the charger pad. I know most people don't keep coins and stuff anymore, but it's a great place to throw some little things that you don't want flying around the place when you go around corners!

Even with used prices high. It’s still not worth it to upgrade on a 2 year old car with minimal upgrades. I ran some quick numbers it would cost me 15k cdn to do this.
Dealerships always come out ahead and going through the buying process again its a turnoff.

I hear you regarding the buying process. Im fortunate that my 2019 Aspec lease is up. Im just waiting for one that's in transit. With my positive 11k on the lease its going to be pretty much a even swap with no money out of my pocket.

Maybe, but in my case the car was 3 years old and had 65,000 miles on it and I was staring down a $600+ 60,000 service. It was the perfect time to bail. Your results may vary however, but I am more than thrilled. I now have a car that's all new and under warranty, and because my trade in was so high, I already have paid for most of the new car.

I understand why you'd not want to upgrade with those numbers. For me (in NC), the high prices for used car/trade-ins more than offset paying MSRP for a new '22 A-spec. I'm in a new RDX, new warranty, lots of new features and I'm paying $130 a month less. Seems like it REALLY varies where you're located.

The seats and the adaptive suspension were two of the biggest reasons I bought the advance over the far more attractive A Spec. My wife also loved the seats the moment she sat in the car, and all of the adjustability is very good for her bad back.
I’m a bit envious of the combo of the features I want and the A spec looks! But still happy with my ‘20.

$53,720 for the car including the installed Welcome Lights and Illuminated Door Sills
$599 Dealer Conveyance Fee
$1682.76 Sales Tax
$250 Registration and State Fees
$100 State of CT Trade in Fee (!!)
That's it. Gotta love those fees
The trade was $34,500, I put $10K down, financed the remainder over 2 years. DONE!

They put my old car up for sale already!! Wow, what a price! $40,988! It has 65K Miles on it. YIKES!
I mean, for a few thousand more, you could get a 2022! Very bizarro world right now

What I was commenting on was why would anyone buy my old car at $40,988 when they could buy a NEW 22 A-Spec (if they could find one) for $48K, which is only a difference of 8-9 thousand dollars, and they get '0' miles instead of '65K' and new everything and a warranty. That's what I was speaking to.
In my case, it was worth the $15K to get the features of the Advance and the new warranty. That's all. My main point was and still is - my trade in value was pretty damn high, IMHO.

yep, not sure why some people go for it.
back in end of 2019, Dealer was trying to sell me 1yr old 2019 with 20k miles for 4k less than what it would cost me to buy new 2020. It made no sense to me.
enjoy your new ride!
