2019 RDX Squeaking Driver Window

Hello Members,

My new RDX has squeaking noise when rolling down driver side window. The noise was ok initially, but now its very sharp. The car is less than a month old and I have not done anything to it yet. Not even a wash.
I noticed the issue happening when the car is parked under the sun. May be the heat is causing some stuffs to expand, I dont know.

Did anyone have this issue? Will this be fixed under warranty ( i hope so ). I just sent the video of the noise issue to the dealer and waiting for them to respond as well.

Thanks

If you can reproduce it it can definitely be addressed under warranty. My guess is that the window tracks didn't get enough grease at the factory or the weather stripping was bent and is scratching the window on its way down.

Thanks for your response. I will take it to the dealer. I have to park the car for an hour under the sun to reproduce the issue which is not a big deal.

Try a little soapy water outside the window when is making the noise, if it goes away is definitely the rubber seal outside the window, it might be bent or not installed correctly, it's something your dealer should be able to fix fairly easy.

Sure, I will try that today. Thanks!

Question

Hi all! any update on this noise? I bought a 2020 RDX in July and have brought it to the dealership 5 times because a few windows make the noise described here. Almost like a vibration when its going down, worse in the heat. Dealership has had to contact acura support a few times, dont think they know what the issue is.

More than likely it’s the weather seal rubbing against the window. I’d try a silicone lubricant you can get at any hardware store and spray it where the seal meets the window. Let it penetrate for a few seconds then move the window up and down a few times. Let sit for a few minutes and then clean the window. Try to stay away from anything petroleum based as they might eat away at the seal over time.

.

Recognizing that this is an older post, I’m curious if this issue has ever been resolved. I’ve had my car to the dealer 4 times for this problem. They seem to have resolved the issue with the passenger side, but not the driver side. During warm weather (>70 degrees F), the drivers window rumbles and squeaks when opening. The weather strip has been replaced, which resolved the problem for a few weeks, but the problem returned. Of course, now that the weather has cooled, the dealer cannot replicate the problem. Has there been a permanent fix?

My 2022 is scheduled for service because the rear passenger window (most used by my son) is now getting stuck halfway. Probably a mix of a poorly lubed track and a worn motor. Not sure if it ever squeaked as my wife likes to play the radio pretty loud most of the time. Will post back with what service finds.
