2017 Ridgeline + 2018 Accord = 2019 RDX

Skeptic
I know that FWD / AWD is optional in all the trim levels. I just wouldn't think that too many people would opt for the Advance package without AWD. I even mentioned that to one of the salesmen and he said he didn't think they've ever had one on the lot. Most of the FWDs they get are Standard or Tech. Maybe that's just in the Northeast.

There are four lights!
I disagree. We're currently in a deep freeze with slick roads, and with winter tires, my TLX is an absolute monster when it comes to getting around. It's even better than my wife's Outback. SH-AWD with winter tires is a great combo for Canadian prairie winters.

A year later and with more time and effort on my part than it should have taken, I finally got in touch with the right person at Honda who admitted they dropped the ball, apologized, and agreed to cover part of the trade difference to get me back in another Honda. I'm currently shopping for a 2021 Ridgeline. Having previously owned five of them, it's proven to be the most useful vehicle for my needs. I don't often need a truck, but I like the convenience and hate having to rely on others for hauling or towing needs. There is no other truck on the market the remotely interests me.

zroger73, this is certainly interesting. I have seen ads on TV saying the Ridgeline is redesigned this year. What is different? I have no need for a truck, but if I did, I would put it at the top of my shopping list.
Interesting that you will still consider it, and Honda (as you mentioned, the money from Honda was a big part of this decision)...are you trading your CX5 in? My son recently bought a 2020 CX5 (not Signature) and loves it, but it is obviously a totally different category of vehicle.

Nothing mechanical...purely cosmetic enhancement to make it appear more rugged and truck-like. All else is the same. I was looking at the Ridgeline too, but I'll wait for a full redesign versus just a few cosmetic upgrades.

I wouldn't even consider this trade had it not been for the financial goodwill.
Yes - I'll be trading my CX-5, but it's a hard decision. The CX-5 has been completely flawless. ZERO warranty repairs. ZERO squeaks or rattles. ZERO failures of any kind. The fit, finish, and interior quality are top-notch. I usually get bored with vehicles after a few months, but the CX-5 continues to impress and I enjoy driving it each day. The only "problem" I've had is that I lost half of the front tire tread by 7,500 miles thanks to 320 lb-ft of torque and an AWD system that doesn't send as much power to the rear as often as SH-AWD.

zroger73 WOW! you certainly have put in a lot of effort on that list! You should be commended!
My (wife's) 2020 CR-V Touring FWD has JUST hit one year and like you, ZERO issues for warranty or TSB. The CX-5 is just a bit to tight inside for me but it is an extremely nice vehicle.
I also get bored with my vehicles quickly. Starting to get that feeling regarding my RDX, which I have had two years, 29,000 miles. I haven't done ANY research yet...HOWEVER, I DID promise my wife I would keep this one for the duration of the b2b factory warranty, sooooo it seems I have a ways to go. 2 more years or ~21,000 miles.
Hope you enjoy your new Ridgeline and it serves you well.

The Ridgeline is the perfect vehicle for people who need the utility of an open bed, but don't like traditional trucks.

Null and proud of it
The CR-V is one of Honda's better models and that's good for Honda considering it's now their best-selling and arguably most important model by far. Last month, more CR-Vs were sold than Accords and Civics combined. I had a 2016 CR-V Touring that I really enjoyed. It's a very friendly and practical vehicle. I chose the CX-5 Signature because it's closer to the RDX than the CR-V in terms of power, interior design, and features. The CX-5 certainly doesn't make as efficient use of space as the CR-V.
Unfortunately, Honda's least reliable models (Pilot, Passport, and Odyssey) come out of Honda Manufacturing of Alabama where the Ridgeline is made. There are undoubtedly some fundamental design and manufacturing issues, but the biggest issues seem to be avoidable assembly errors such as poor fit and finish, loose components, poor sealing, and loose fasteners.

Didn't know it was built in AL. That is interesting.
And I have to agree.... I wouldn't be caught dead driving a pickup truck either

I agree, I never put my real information on any sites I go on. It's scary how easy it is to get your information nowadays. I have some friends on my social media who have their accounts public and literally have in their biography what university they go to, where they work, their birthday, where they are currently. It's so stupid.
Lol definitely

Oh - I LOVE the smell of pizza, but I don't want the interior of my vehicles to smell like pizza.

2020 RDX White/Espresso
True story; I worked in a coffee shop in high school and I got my friend a job there too. He didn’t drink coffee but loved the smell. We each got a half-pound of coffee a week as an employee perk, and he would take the beans and just keep them in his car as a sort of air freshener.

Strangely, I used to drink coffee as a child, but not as an adult. I love the aroma, though! I used to keep cinnamon sticks or cloves in my vehicle, but these days I prefer it au naturale.

Hello, old friends!
I ended up trading the 2020 CX-5 for a 2021 Ridgeline which I sold a couple of weeks ago after buying my first EV - a Tesla Model Y, which is simply amazing!
Four years after I sold the 2019 RDX, I still get monthly vehicle health reports on it. This month's report alerted to a problem with the electronic parking brake at 32K miles...and I found out why - it was totaled last year and sold at auction for $9,000. It's uncanny how many vehicles I've sold that later got totaled. Someone must have finally powered it up recently. It's still reporting the same mileage it had when it was totaled last year.
