1.2.2 Update fails with error 57d

Hi all,

Are people still receiving this error when attempting to update to v1.2.2 of the Acura system software?

I know there are some other threads discussing this however pretty much all date back to last may with nothing too recent.

I just picked up my 2020 Rdx Advance CPO with 5k miles on Friday and encountered this while at the dealer.

The dealer looked at it and determined it’s a known issue and said Acura has been working on a new update for a while. They plan to make it a forced update apparently.

Has anyone been able to resolve this issue on their own? All the research shows it makes no difference if you use the OTA method or usb method. Or if the car is running or off.

Thanks

Mine (2019 RDX ASpec) has been showing an 'update' for several months. It is currently on 1.21, so I assume it was a 1.22 update. A few tries to update ultimately failed with the 57D message. Took it to dealer in Reno...same message ..."Acura is aware of this and expect communication soon" ( "but don't do update or you might lose infotainment screen"). Fast forward several months (now in Las Vegas) still showing 'update'...tried a few more times and same thing....57D. Took it it to one of two dealers here (Findlay) and strangely on the way the way there, or while there, the update message disappeared (but it is still on 1.21). And....they said... yada, yada, yada...Acura is aware of this (the 1.22 issue)and working on it....now about 6 months later form initial 'update message' and no company is that incompetent to be unable to fix a software (or hardware?) issue, so, I believe that Acura is not really working on it nor Acura cares. If the 2021's are really shipping with version 1.4?...then those with 1.21, enjoy...Acura has probably lost interest in you....but enjoyed the money you gave them for the car.

Just maybe I lean toward optimism. With the 2021s delivering with 1.4.3 I believe that we will also get that version, soon.. It is easier to preload new software into the head units than to prepare it for, and test the OTA.. Just my (optimistic) opinion.

We haven’t seen any “what’s new” with the 1.4.3 software.

Maybe our hardware does not support it?

I’m thinking the chip in my car is an 8086. Maybe they put an 80286 in the new cars?

Wow! My first computer had an 8088! Had forgotten all about that! It had a 40 MB hard drive! Yes Megabyte!

I have apps on my iPhone bigger than the 10 MB of my first hard drive. In fact, I wonder which ones are smaller than that.

We picked up our 2020 RDX in May of this year. The minute we drove it off the lot it was telling us there was an update. I tried to update it multiple times and the update failed. I took it back to the dealer, sat there for two hours only to have them come out and tell me they couldn't get it to update but they were told by Acura a fix was being worked on. Fast forward 7 months (beginning of December) I call the dealer again and ask them what's going on. They said bring it in we'll update it for you. Another two hours sitting in the waiting room and they come out and tell me again Acura is still working on a fix. At which I said "WTF - that's the EXACT same thing you told me 7 months ago." So I came home and opened a case with Acura and told them I wanted to speak to someone who knew what the hell was going on with the updates. I didn't hear from them for a couple weeks and then just about two days ago they called me back. The person I spoke to said indeed they are working on a fix. He described the problem to me and said they were well aware of the issue and once they had it addressed a new update would be pushed to the system. I asked for a time frame of when it would be available but he could not give it to me. He didn't know. But he did escalate my case to a second level case manager and said they would keep in touch and keep me informed about what's going on. Who knows if I'll ever hear from them, but he did confirm they are still working on the fix to address the update issue from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2.

If they are working to fix 1.2.2, that means 1.4.x is not planned for us, otherwise they would not bother fixing 1.2.2.

I should clarify - he didn't actually say they were working on a fix for 1.2.2. He said they were aware of the issue when updating from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 and they were working on a fix for it. So that could mean they are bypassing 1.2.2 completely and moving right to 1.4.x. When I spoke to them I wasn't aware of newer versions than 1.2.2 so I didn't ask him specifically about it.

Sorry for the confusion.

Same error with my 2021 RDX yesterday

I attempted OTA system software update yesterday on my 2021 RDX Tech and it failed on step 6 with 57D code. Says try again later.
dealer says only they can fix it. I have an appointment next Tuesday.
So, pretty shocked this issue has been going on for years!
I’ll bet it would have been fixed years ago if Acura had to compensate owners for the time and inconvenience to resolve their issue.
More likely they would never put out another update.
Somebody at Acura needs to get their stuff together. They should be embarrassed this issue has gone on so long without a resolution.
The version it is trying to update to is 1.6.2
