How were you able to get $2,000 under MSRP? Was it not the first color of your choice or you are a repeat client to this particular dealership?

We first stopped at a dealer that wanted $7500 over retail. We played the game for awhile and they came down $3850. I said no and walked. I went to another dealer and they wanted msrp which I expected to pay this early in the model run for an Advance. I put my name in on one that is being built 7/11. Two days later the sales mgr from the first dealer called me and offered msrp when I told him I was looking at another dealer. I told him I'm not interested anymore and he through out a $1000 offer and I said no then came the $2000 offer and I said I will call him back. I called the other dealer to cancel and told them why, so they matched it. Dealer 1 being such a $#%$# to start with lost my business while getting me a better deal with dealer number 2.

You turned your situation into a win-win.

Too bad you had to deal with BS from the first dealer.

There is a person/sponser on the mdx forum that seems to have something to do with this dealer. I hope he isn't the same way.

That is a great deal. Most people are paying MSRP for the Advance model right now. Enjoy your new ride! Hopefully I can get some discounts as well.

Just got another call from "The Sales Manager" as he stated, ( dealer #1) wanting to know why I didn't take the $2000 deal. I told him the other dealer matched it and I decided to go with the dealer I felt had the most integrity. He thanked me for my honesty and said goodby.

I test drove the 2WD version with Tech + Ent package and the wife just fell in love with how comfortable the seats are and how quiet and compliant the drive felt. We started negotiating with the dealer looking for a Blue / Grey but unfortunately there are none (around the DC / MD / VA area )

However, the dealer agreed to give me the vehicle for $55,200 (Advanced) with destination included. So essentially, getting the car at about $54,300 + destination. Unfortunately, that color combo isn't available and he wanted me to put down a deposit before he could find the vehicle for me. I wasn't down for putting down a deposit on him "locating" a car so I maintained radio silence.

Good thing I did because I have been monitoring the prices that dealers are quoting on new car sales on cars.com and I am increasingly noticing dealers dropping prices by $2,000. Come September and we should hopefully see prices start to drop. But I am nervously skeptical of them dropping because no other SUV in the market is offering the kind of value and gas mileage as the 2014 MDX. Heck even the 2014 model X5 is now $7K more expensive. Nuts.

Well I'm looking at getting an AWD Tech. I reside in the Austin,TX area but normally have better luck with dealers in the DFW area. Anyone in TX get any good deals? I'm in no rush and was looking to buy in October.

It always makes sense to wait, if one could. It's not like they will be running out of 50K cars

Have you tried calling/visiting either Austin Acura dealer to see what they say on pricing? Looking on both websites they have very few AWD models right now (and it will probably be that way for a while). Seems like most Austin dealers (of all brands) tend to stock mainly the FWD model of cars, as most people don't need AWD in Texas.

Nope have not called or visited any of the dealers in Austin. I do not normally have much luck in pricing in Austin and have better luck in DFW and Houston areas. I agree not much in AWD at least in Austin but there are a few in other parts. Not too eager to get out there and look as I can wait a few months but I'll be keeping an eye on here and see what others end up getting. Thanks.

Why? Don't you get rain in Texas? The reason that I ask is that having SH-AWD in the rain makes these cars handle extremely well.

It doesn't rain often and when it does, we can stay home :-)

I have had an AWD for 3.5 years and can say that I did not get a single opportunity to enjoy the benefit. I tend to drive safely and that may have been a contributing factor.

I got my 2014 FWD today and feel just as safe (actually safer with the improvements over my 2010 model).

Here it's been raining almost non-stop for last 9-10 days. So AWD would've been fun, but FWD is more than adequate. I live on the Gulf Coast, so it's not uncommon to get a lot of rain some days.

In Austin TX also but found no short supply of MDX AWD at 2 Acura Dealers.
You prob know which 2 dealers I refer to.
FYI - the one at the south side was considerably more competitive
than the one at the north side.
I got deal from Sterling that McDavid would not touch and a $500 gift card to
boot {December Acura Promotion}.
For those who think you don't need AWD in Texas ... you don't unless ...
you drive on those few days when it downpours
or more importantly those few days when its ice on the road and you go up or down the hills
and highway bridges.

Just got the Shawd advanced package for $55929 which i though to be a pretty good deal consider there are only 3 vehicles left in Southern California with White diamond/parchment. This car is a huge improvement comparing to my honda odyssey touring elite

new acura owner here in northern california... for a '14 MDX SH-AWD with tech, graphite luster/greystone, got it for $660 under MSRP (total $48,800 w/ destination) with all weather mats and cargo tray thrown in. it was not easy, the dealer repeatedly came back at MSRP. a little persistence pays off, good luck everyone!

Can you please elaborate on why you think the MDX is a huge improvement over the Odyssey?

I am having a hard time deciding on whether to get the '14 MDX Advance or the '14 Odyssey Touring Elite. Your input will be most appreciated!

Interesting that you got a deal from an austin dealer. I could not get anyone to budge when I was getting the wife's TSX. I will again try the local guys when I'm shopping (in a couple of months) but I'm already preparing myself for a trip up to the DFW area to get the car.

I picked up a 2014 MDX Tech AWD for $49,460 (MSRP), which included body side moldings, the tri-fold rear cargo mat, and the trailer hitch assembly. Northern California.

I've looked, but no Acura dealers in my area (Kansas City metro) are in the program. Haven't tried looking elsewhere.

For folks that are getting deals like this, could you please include your location as well as the dealership you worked with?

Dealers in my area (DFW) aren't willing to budge past MSRP. It would be really helpful if you can identify the dealerships that are willing to work with you.

Thanks in advance!

Agree. And, please also let us know whether you have (1) trade-in and (2) accessories. Car by itself is still hard to negotiate significantly.

I'm Good Friend with General Sales Manager and he had to get GM Involved in this Deal.

I Use to Work for Honda So I had few Calls made to The Dealership from my past references.
And GM Worked out this deal for me. (He also threw in few extra accessories in)

Looks like deals are out there. Someone posted this on the Edmunds prices paid forum:

"As a follow up, we purchased the FWD 2014 w/tech package today. They matched the $4,055 Costco discount from another dealership who did not have our color on the lot. Total out the door in CA @ 9.5% TLR was 48,700 after accessories."

Can someone please explain how this "Costco Discount" works? I'm looking for an Advance AWD/ENT and the 3 local dealers i've contacted wont budge past the 57.4 MSRP tag.

I have executive membership at Costco but was not aware that I can purchase a vehicle from them, let alone at a discounted price. Can anyone shed some light on how this program works?
