What’s this bump?

Have a new 2017 MDX and just noticed this bump in the roof area of the rear cargo space.
Can someone please let me know if all MDX’s have this bump?
Is this normal or something I need to get the dealer looked at under warranty?? <5K miles
Its on the driver side of the roof area see pics :

They all have it. Probably the auto open/close mechanism.

If I am not mistaken, aren’t there speakers, or a speaker In the rear near that position available with some of the packages?

Dont think that hump is a speaker- there are no holes and on pressing the hump, it appears solid and unpliable.
If all MDX’s have it that’s fine but it’s a shame that Acura could not integrate it better.
Just like the protruding camera lenses on iPhones??

My 2nd gen MDX had something similar. I assumed it had something to do with the 2nd row, middle seat belt?

I just looked online at the pictures Acura.com has in the gallery for the MDX and you can clearly see this "imperfection" in the picture. So it is supposed to be there, ugly or not. Now the question is, what the heck is it?

I just asked my dealer and he also has no idea what that hump is. It’s normal for all MDX’s though but would love to know what’s that for.

Any Acura experts??

It is the motor to open the tail gate.

Tail gate motor is in the gate as usual.

The humps are to house the Side SRS Sensor.

It is the centre seat belt retractor module. I know this with 100% certainty.

Yes, yes, yes. Is it not obvious based on the 2nd row middle seat belt location in the ceiling? It's the retractor mechanism.

Surprised I hadn't noticed that on one of my many test drives over the last 2-3 months. I guess I never looked up when looking back there. It's like the MDX has a lipoma!

There is nothing to fix. Although it is rather ugly, it is there by design.

ugh! I hadn't seen the bump, then someone mentions it, then I see it and it catches my attention. Bummer, everything was fine till the OP brought it up, now I have to live with it.

Nothing like a little lipoma in your vehicle! But just like lipoma in humans, it is relatively harmless. just noticeable depending on where it is.

I never noticed this before, but low and behold mine has the bump. It is not as noticeable to the black headliner I have with my Aspec.
