Traffic aware cruise in 2016 MDX vs my 2014?
We are getting off the perpetual leasing train and will be buying an 2016 MDX.
I just bought a 2014 RLX advance and was pretty disappointed in the traffic aware cruise (sucks in stop and go traffic) and the cooled seats work although with a lot of fan noise. My question to current 2016 owners is did the technology improve from my 2014?
Is Acura’s traffic aware cruise just not good? Mine accelerated to fill in gaps in traffic and can be harsh and scary on braking. I drove a new rental Prius and was amazed at how great it worked.
If TAC isn’t improved I might as well just get a tech or even base.
My 2016 TLX tech had lane keeping assist that was pointless.
Thanks.

I don't have Adaptive Cruise Control on my 2015 Tech/AWD. LDW works pretty good and accurate, but I usually keep it off during city driving.
But I would not buy a 2016 with 9 speed ZF tranny, YMMV.

I don't have first hand experience with new(2016) 9sp ZF transmission, but there are many who had trouble with their new 9sp ZF transmission. Here's a link to very long froum discussion on MDX forum; https://www.mdxers.org/threads/2016-...-sight.102657/
On my 2015 Tech/AWD has 6sp AT, trouble free and probably gets the same if not better mpg as the 9sp AT. I read Acura has some sort of software fix out, but don't know the detail. As with all others, many are quite happy with their 9sp ZF tranny. I'm glad I have 6sp AT.

Thanks for the heads up. Doing some more research now and I could prob be just as happy with a 2015.
My 9 spd TLX was clunky and weird. But when it’s a lease my care level is close to zero as long as it doesn’t leave me stranded.
Now that we are buying 5 year old used cars it’s a new set of worries. Was hoping that all my Acura lease experiences translated to an equally care free ownership.

Things haven't improved much on the 2018 (MDX Advance SH-AWD). Just prior to purchase I drove my brother-in-law's 2011 Lincoln MKS AWD from NV to MS for him while he drove his motor home. I was super impressed with the adaptive cruise control in that car. I locked onto him and it felt like he had me in tow through cities and country so I was expecting at least the same from Acura in 2018....NOT! It operates very similar to the OP's 2014 RLX description.
