Thinking about getting the New X but one thing.
To all that have gotten this car already. The million dollar question......
How is the backup cam at night in the new 2014 MDX?
Better? Worse? Same? Please let me know. I have a 2011 and it's painful at times.

I feel your pain and it was one of the downfalls of my 2012 advance. It is now like going from a 24 inch panasonic tube tv to a sony 4k 80inch! I just picked up a 14 advance entertainment. Also the license plate bulbs are finally LED incase you did not know. They finally stepped it up and really hit it out of the park with this model. To me its like when the 3g TL came out over all previous versions. I don't even want to drive my awd advance tl much anymore. Its that good!

Are you saying just the night view back up camera on the '14 MDX is better than the one on the 4G TL ?
Or are you saying that the '14 MDX is a better vehicle than the 4G TL ?

What he is saying is that the '14 MDX back up cam is better than previous generation MDX back up cam.

NO it's not. It's crap. I have test driven the car at night 3x and it sucks. The screen is of low quality. WTF were they thinking. Stupid people that were in charge of the screen part. I hope they change it soon. To me, they have fucked up a nice SUV.

I traded in my 2011 MDX for a 2014 MDX. My wife has a 2012 TL Advanced. I have to say that the 2014 has a better back up camera than the 2011 (at least at night), but the TL's backup is much better at night. The new back-up is just not as crisp as the TL's.

Regarding brightness, are we talking about the brightness of the screen or the image on the screen? Screen brightness is adjustable, consult the manual or 'play' with the settings. The image on the screen will depend on what the camera sees.
All digital camera will use some form of processing and I think that in low light situations, they (may) slow the shutter and/or increase the gain to improve the image. Increasing the gain will usually add noise so it's not a 'free' fix.
If Acura builds a system that satisfies 90% of the people, then the issue might be specific to your individual needs. Perhaps your nighttime light sensitivity isn't as sharp? The mirrors are still there and that's how we did it before cameras. IMO, if adding screen brightness isn't helping, you might experiment with additional reverse lighting. Since you're not commenting on any issues during the day, it's logical to consider that more light could help you. Anyway, it's all my
