SiriusXM drops out so often

I have a 2 month old 2019 MDX Sport Hybrid.
Do others have frequent SiriusXM drop outs even when there are no obstructions?
I was near the apex of a large bridge and SiriusXM dropped out. No buildings or any other potential obstructions anywhere near me. Drops usually last 1-4 seconds, but they seem to be happening too often.

Thanks in advance
MP

Basically anything that can block the view of the southern sky will. If you think it is dropping when there is nothing aparent, then take it back to the dealer. It is quite poasible there is a bad antenna or wiring.

I've been a XM subscriber since 2006 and had various quality levels in my 4 Acura's (06 TSX, 08 RDX, 11 MDX, 19 MDX sh-sh-awd). Signal quality has been hit and miss over the years and it hasn't been as strong now compared to +5 years ago. I have certain spots around town where I drop my signal in my RDX and it is spotty in more areas in my TSX. So far, my 11 MDX hasn't been effected at all in the same areas. My theory is an overload of wireless signals from cell phones/towers, microwave communications towers, power-lines, and natural and/or man-made obstructions. Like trying to see a flashlight in the daytime compared to at night. XM radio will most likely go the way of the tape deck, CD player, and ELS DVD-A in a few years once 5G becomes widely available.

I've noticed there is a feature that shows a status bar and allows you to record and rewind XM radio on the touch screen. Now sure if this feature is active all the time or only when the horizontal status bar is on the touch screen? I wonder if you used this feature to put XM on a tape delay of 2-10 seconds would smooth out the signal drop?

XM and Sirius are very poor quality. FM HD is much better. Why bother with that crap

I had the same issue with my 2018 Hybrid here in SoCal so I didnt keep the subscription. Music apps with car play (Pandora, Apple music, Amazon Music, etc) have a much better HD sound output.

Thanks. I had an RDX and the connection would not drop nearly as often. Maybe its cell, microwave, electrical and other signals that someone else stated.

I still cant help but to think that SXM cuts out because some guy is heating a burrito 1/2 a mile away!

He meant microwave comm antennas, not microwave ovens. Although your story about heating a burrito could help explain why *my* MDX's satellite radio cuts out so often!

even semi trucks along side you can cause it to drop if they block the satellite. The sound quality for us degraded many years ago when Sirius took over XM. To our ears they seem to have sacrificed quality of sound for the number of stations. I was also having to call them to reset my account because the car would lose the signal in the parking garage during the day and it would not re-acquire until we were pulling the our driveway unless I called them. XM was nice while it was in its prime. In teh MDX I played a whole bunch of our favorite CDs which recorded on the cars hard drive. Then between Pandora and the hard drive we have so much music.
