Purchasing added warranty on 2019 Hybrid MDX

hello all, I thought I was going to buy a Certified 2018 MDX Sport Hybrid Advanced with 8k Miles but they are making a 2019 Sport Hybrid TECH offer for $3k cheaper. The Certified warranty I miss out on would be a bummer maybe more than the bells and Whistles of a Advanced versus Tech. Has anyone bought the extended warranty on a new 2019(or 2018)? I’ve owned two MDXs and they have been very reliable but curious what others have paid to extend the warranty. I know they ask for a little and it can be negotiated down.
Thanks!

The Hybrid has a lot of components that are already covered past the basic 4yr/50K mile warranty, some are covered 7/70 and some 8/80. I don't think you really get much more coverage of Hybrid components with an extended warranty. Check you Hybrid warranty book, I think it's toward the back that lists the extra coverage.

I say no extended warranty since its a Acura. I've purchased 3 brand new cars (2013 Accord, 2016 Lexus IS, and 2018 MDX) and all major issues that occurred did so in the first year of ownership. I rack up up 15-20,000 miles yearly so I'm confident if any parts fail it will happen within the first 1-2 years of ownership.

Stick with the 2018 Advance, you get the upgraded leather, surround view camera, cooled seats and fog light's.

I say no extended warranty required for these cars, they're very reliable. As others have said he Sport Hybrid already have great long warranty for the Hybrid components. And I vote for Sport Hybrid Tech if you value actually having 7 seats. Advance is "meh" for what you get and lose one seat. Tech pkg was a must have for us. Only thing I'd want from the Advanced pkg are Parking sensors. Which I negotiated to be added to our '17 Sport Hybrid Tech - best of both worlds.

and the 2019 Tech has parking sensors and real wood! I can also add heated steering wheel for $500 if I want. Leaning to 2019 Tech Hybrid. Can get 6yr 100k warranty added for about $1500 if needed.

Oh really, I didn't know MY2019 Tech pkg comes with Parking sensors now. Kinda pissed that I had to pay additional for that on our '17 Hybrid. $56K SUV and doesn't comes standard with Parking Sensors!

Tech is the only choice if you need all 7 seats. After all that's what Acura advertises this SUV as. Warranty is a waste of money, IMO. Read the fine print, it doesn't cover alot of stuff.

I too am very interested in the 2019 Tech Hybrid in the next 2-4 months.
Where are you located and are you seeing a greater supply of these Hybrids now?

i may have been mistaken. I thought i heard Hybrid Tech and parking sensors but you forced me to double-check and it looks like only Advanced has them included.

sorry for going back and forth on this buy I’m flip-flopping again. Parking Sensors ARE INCLUDED on 2019 Tech, at least the versions I saw yesterday at a dealer. And looks Standard, not option added.

Acura finally did the right thing to add Parking Sensors as STD on Hybrid Tech. How they can call something a Technology Package and not have basic tech like parking sensors. Go for 2019 Tech, no brainer. It's newer and cheaper. Unless there is something you want on the Advance.

Its really up to you, my 2005 tsx which I bought extended warranty from curry around 1400. Close to 5 year 90k, AC grenaded (common for 04/05), What would have been a 2-3k repair, cost 100 deductible, GPS went, they replaced the entire system, they estimate 3k retail (insane), another 100 deductible, rear hub bearing went around 85k, probably a cheaper repair. Was also covered. So for my repair, i made back my warranty cost.

I did the same with my RX450h, around 120k, the engine started mis-firing, took them 3 weeks to figure it out, etc. I had warranty till 125k. would have been a costly repair.

my 17 mdx, i bought extended also. Can't wait to see what breaks first.
