Old school Member!!! Need help on 2016 MDX pricing

Hey guys,

Almost 10 years since I been on this forum, used to own a 2006 Acura TL then moved on to this below.http://www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...226_125449.jpg

Currently looking at the 2016 Q5 or 2016 MDX with technology package. If MSRP is $50,210, how much do you guys think I can negotiate for? What's everyone paying?

You should be able to get it for invoice or below invoice pretty easily

$5k off MSRP is entirely doable. Some have gotten even more than that, but the average seems like $5k off. Volume dealers especially can manage that.

I wish I shopped where you guys shop. I am currently negotiating an AWD Advance with two dealers, and so far all I can get is $500 below MSRP! Even USAA Car Buying Service couldn't beat it. Is it just the Advance AWD that are in short supply and demanding full price?

A couple of tips:
1) Always shop at the end of the month (within the last week)
2) Email all the dealerships within an acceptable range first
3) They will likely give you the price before TTL. Some states like California have a TTL calculator on the DMV website. You may want to look for your state to estimate fees. This will help you form a OTD price for all the prices given to you.
4) When you've compiled all the prices, work with the top few to negotiate against each other. You may want to work in OTD pricing at this point. Getting all of this in writing is your best bet to secure the price you want when you finally walk in. If they bait and switch you, just leave. If they show you that some stuff is already installed on the car during in person negotiations and try to make you pay for it, recommend you either do a quick search for comparable accessories on places like oemacuraparts or ebay (ebay is usually the best indicator) before agreeing to anything. More likely than not, their prices are extremely inflated.
5) Don't buy their BS about sales due to a holiday. They usually have the same pricing year round except for end of the year or manufacturer's incentives.

Alan, you probably know that the Q5 and the MDX are dynamically different types of SUVs. The Q5 in size and execution is more in line with the RDX. In comes in 2.0L Turbo 4 cyl, 3.0L Supercharged V6, and 3.0L Turbo Diesel V6. If you're going for a smaller vehicle with performance and fuel economy, then I would lease a Q5. If you want a larger SUV with reliability, I would lease or buy the MDX all day long.

Okay, off soap box.

I paid $46,210 for a 2016 SH-AWD Tech. $4K off was the lowest I could muster during a 3-week search in August (Orange County, CA). As mentioned, deals vary on your region.

And I agree with Neoshi, all the "holiday sale" fluff is just marketing; deals can be had throughout the year (depending on corporate incentives such as 0% financing and the market lease factor).

something I've noticed in the dc area is that all dealers will sort of give the same price in email, but over the phone the prices are a bit better. Perfect example is my TL which was 2k less than the price that was submitted by just about everyone in email from the usual edmunds/truecar/costco thing.

Negotiating on a 16 mdx now and only 1 of 5 has actually sent me a quote which is pathetic really. The others just talk about how they can beat it but when push comes to shove they all want me to come in first and says they will beat whatever. The issue is that some of them with allegedly better prices are 45-1hr one way with no traffic, and its a friday. The local dealer is 10-15mins away but is typically overpriced by anywhere from 1500-2000 because they know they are the closest by far.

May buy a 16 white ebony if the numbers all work out sometime this weekend. Best offer including destination and profit fee is 44.8. What really surprises me is that even in march i've read of the same 46k ish deals that most dealers are offering now. I guess short of dec 31st sales and until 17s come in you wont see anything too crazy.

On the accessories i know the all season mats and all 3 rows should be worth it, but what about remote start or the folding tray thing for the trunk? And real world experience? Ive read of some whose remote start wasnt always the greatest.

Thanks for the input, you are correct. I went to take a look at both cars the Q5 is way too small, I reached out to the sales person who sold me my 06 Tl 10 years ago he told me 46,100 for the tech package. I'll see if i can do better

My best offer was 44.8. I feel like we should be able to do way better since we're halfway to 2017 model and looking at edmunds thread, people were getting 16 shawd techs for 45 since march

So I decided to go with the Advance package, reached out to 5 dealerships.
Best offer right now is $51,344 includes the destination fee. Another place offer me 51,300 not sure if destination is included. I plan on last week of October so I have some time.

Sounds decent since i recall people in the low 50s without destination. Give your business to the dealer who doesnt treat you like crap lol.

That price is about what i was getting quoted. Be careful though as I found every dealer I was dealing with had additionally added hundreds of dollars worth of crazy crap like:

$200 Nitrogen filled tires
$200 splash guards
$200 wheel locks
