LKAS Suspend on 2016 MDX

I have a 2016 MDX. They have changed the audible warning when LKA suspends! It is so low you can not hear it with the radio on, or if there is conversation in the car. You must be looking in at the display to no that the system has suspended! I checked with Acura and the confirmed that it changed from the 2015 to 2016 year model. We just completed a 5,000 mile trip from TX. to WA. and back. Several times the LKA suspended and I was not aware until the car crossed the lane markers. Most of the time I am looking outside the car, and down the road. On two lane roads, you must include an inside dash check to insure it is still working.

While I really like the MDX, I consider this a huge safety shortfall!

They also made the CMBS beeps so quiet you can't hear it over the radio either. Advance models have the added benefit of the windshield light reflection to overcome that. Until the DOT mandates and regulates certain things out of these safety systems, we're going to get a hash of systems doing whatever for the time being. Realistically, if they thought it through, the volume of your safety audibles should increase proportionally with your music volume.

Yeah, I just test-drove a 2016 and was pretty disappointed at how much I had to keep looking down into the instrument cluster to figure out if LKAS was still engaged. I like the feature (I can see how it might relieve strain on long drives) but I wish you could hear a chime or beep or something. You're saying it's so low, but I didn't hear it AT ALL. And I was alone in the car, without the radio on. I did have the A/C going so maybe that's why.

Similarly, I would like some sort of audible or heads-up indicator that the ACC has gained/lost a target car. The 2016 Mazda CX-9 heads-up display has all of this information for both of these systems, and it's really nicely handled in that car.

I hope that Acura comes up with a software update so that you can adjust the volume of the warning beep. I can hear it only if I'm alone with the radio off. This is a potentially safety issue. Not sure what Acura is thinking here.

I didn't know it had a beep until I read this thread and turned everything off on a drive and could barely hear it. I think the reason the "beep" is so low is because Acura doesn't want you to take your hands off the wheel or stop paying attention ala Tesla incidents. The LKAS is to relieve fatigue but not to do the job for you. That's my thought.

They're probably thinking maybe you should pay attention to the road rather than solely rely safety nannies
