Key fob cover for 2014 MDX/RLX Advance trim? (or remote start)

Key fob cover for 2014 MDX/RLX Advance trim? (or remote start)-1khlfsj.jpg

I'm looking for a right-sized key fob cover for MDX 2014 Advance trim (or, you may get this kind of fob if you install remote engine start). I also want to remove the heavy metal key from the fob. This is a way heavy. Anyone who try it?

you are welcome ! I was about to post the link for you guys ! It only took me 2 months to find a decent case to protect such investment ! Also they key slides out so you can use the remote, I did not receive my yet , should arrive next week! It was difficult to find cause I did not have the key to measure it.

Post some photos of the leather cover with the MDX fob once you get it. It's a little bit pricey ($35 each) in my opinion and I have to buy two (total of $70) - one for me and one for the wife.

Thanks!

YES, I will post some photos as soon I get it, I know it's a little pricey, but that is the only one that will fit and not look cheap

I have been speaking to the ebay seller that make the case listed below. I gave him the measurements for the new smart key. He has several sizes and is going to try and find one that fits. I will keep you updated on what he finds. Maybe we can do a group buy.

It came with a land rover pin, I used an Acura pin from another case I bought and did not fit, the strap attaches to the key so you can slide the key out of the case and also remove it for valet.

Hi! I'm also looking for a suitable cover for the fobs but my MDX won't arrive until a week from now. Would want to have the fobs covered/protected as soon as I receive them. Would anyone who has their fobs in hand be kind enough to give the measurements of the fob with and without the heavy metal key. Thank you very much!

I wouldn't take a chance on removing the manual key from the FOB and not carrying it with me. I've been locked out of my 2014 RLX on multiple occasions and have had to use the manual key just to get in the vehicle. So much for Acura Technology.

My "problematic" dimple system on my 05 RL has never failed, it doesn't seem like a step forward to me.

Like you I have been staring at the pictures of this fob case since the thread started. Are you still happy with your purchase? Would you mind taking a few pictures with the MDX Fob in the case so we can see what our fob will look like in this case? Thanks in advance!!

Ok, I received a price from the seller. If I buy 5 or more the price is $32 plus shipping to me. It is a few dollars less than what he has listed on eBay.

If anybody is interested, I will place the order.

I would love to buy one (two) of these, however, I would like to see pics before I commit $35 + Shipping. Does anyone have pictures of the '14 MDX Remote Start Fob in this case that they would be willing to post? It would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Did you see the photos posted by alkus77 above? One of the photos (post #10 of this thread) shows the 2014 MDX fob inside the case. Hope this helps.

Even though I haven't received my fob cover yet, the seller, weitzu2001, is a pleasure to deal with thus far! I emailed him thanking him for his detailed email and let him know this was for my 2014 MDX Remote Start Fob. He is arranging to have an Acura logo sent for the fob cover! Too cool!

I like this leather case and it's probably worth the price but I just can't convince myself into spending $35 x 2 (for both fobs) + shipping. I've been looking for other cases but there seems to be nothing else. The biggest (extra-large) sized remote tote is not big enough for the 2014 MDX fob. I've been scouring Amazon, eBay and other sites but I can't see any other good option.
Anyone here who is using a different case for their fobs? Thanks!

I also contacted the seller and he provided this link :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251317492704&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123
It still says Union Jack logo, but he said if you ask for an Acura logo, it can be arranged.

Anyone else want to arrange a bulk order for a discount ?

I spoke to the seller a few weeks ago. He offered a $5 discount if I purchased 10 or more cases.

I got this cover, black with red stitching, and with an Acura pin. I've got mixed feelings about it. The seller was very good, responded to emails right away, and shipped quickly. The trouble is the tether in the case bunches up when you push the fob in. There's two small key rings, plus a nylon tether. It seems kinda kludgy. I may just remove the key rings and just use the nylon tether somehow, or substitute my own string. The quality is pretty good though.

The alternative I've been playing with is a nylon belt holster that fits the fob perfectly. If I want to belt carry the fob, it's pretty nice for that. If I want to pocket it, it's a little wider than the fob.

Not sure what to do!

Acura should have made something like this for the new key fob.

You will need to remove the ring and the metal pin from the string(just pull the string out) . After that attach the string directly to the key and the leather strap , this is what I have to do to make it work.

Received mine as well! Seller was great! You'll have to let us know if removing the metal rings solves the problem.

Here is another option that I found to protect the smart key.

Ok, just did this now, and I also put a ring on the fob itself. This works pretty well. Thanks!

I just received three black leather cases for the MDX smart key. This is the same case listed at the top of this thread. I purchased them direct from the seller in Taiwan.

I have them listed in the classified section for exactly what I pay for them.

I rather have a much smaller cover that isn't cumbersome. I got this for my non Advance remote (w/o remote start). Its for a Honda, but it fits a little tight, the logo on the back does not show through. It does a nice job of protecting the remote. I asked this seller if they will be making a cover specific to ours. I received an answer that they will be making it, just a matter of time.
