Insurance Premuim Hike?

Hi all,
just wondering if any of you have seen an increase on their policies after insuring a new MDX, got renewal documents from Geico and I’m suprissed to see a15% increase in my policy, called them up and they said is because of the cost of repairing a vehicle in case of collision? I think that’s BS, any thoughts ?
2017 MDX tech, I’m in Long Island NY just in case

You have only given us half the story. What were you driving before or another way of saying it would be - what did the MDX replace?

tons of different factors, from a new car to location, etc...
your best bet is to get a hold of Gieco's customer retention line, or shop for a different ins. company.

I bought the MDX Back in July repalcing a 2016 Pilot Touring, and there was only a sligth increase of about $55 with same coverage as the Pilot, now they are giving me the story of repair cost to justify the increase

It is typical when a vehicle has any cosmetic changes, like the new grill on the MDX for instance, for insurance premiums to go up. This is partially due to the increase in cost of the repairs for the new sheet metal, plastic, etc., and also due to the limited availability of parts at the onset. That's what makes for a more expensive repair job, thus more expensive insurance.

Everyone whose had to deal with insurance knows, you have to shop around. Prices vary. Good luck.

My 2017 MDX SH-AWD Tech costs less than my wife's 2013 Honda Accord Coupe for identical coverage. My agent says the reason is that the MDX is more likely to be driven by an older more responsible person than the driver of a 2013 Accord Coupe. Sounds like BS to me. The insurance company knows who is being insured. We are both over 70 years old.

Regards, Jim

Our 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid cost less to insure then my 2015 Lexus GS350.
Was expecting it would be much higher because it's a new Model Year and Hybrid System cost to repair/replace.
But was surprised it's pretty affordable to insure. I'm with AAA and have 3 cars and our house with them.
Clean record with no accidents and both drivers are adults.
