Honda paint......SMH

2,000 miles out of warranty, 1 square foot of paint just peeled off the top of my 2105 MDX Advance. I wouldn't have been so surprised if it was just oxidized like the paint that plagued the 90's Accords, but this just flew off somewhere on the freeway. I'll visit the dealer tomorrow to see if they'd be willing to make some kind of goodwill gesture. Anyone else experience with their paint?

Wow, that sounds nuts. Do you usually park in a garage or out in the sun? Even if it's in the sun, that sounds like some sort of bad paint defect for it to happen after just 3-4 years.

Can't make egregious claims. ..

If you aren't protecting your paint from uv Ray's and acid etchings all the time, there might not be any grounds to stand on.

Just telling like it is.

Is it white? Apparently happens occasionally on Oddessy vans:

Ask for an Acura paid repair at your dealer.

I've made no claim at all, much less an egregious one. I suppose I claimed the paint fell off my car, which is pretty apparent. I also know I have no grounds to stand on, which is why I said I'd ask for a goodwill gesture as opposed to demanding anything.

Indeed it is white. Like I said, it's out of warranty so all I can do is ask if Acura is willing to do something for me. Thanks for the link.

Paint should not peel off in chunks like that no matter what in my opinion. Something must have gotten contaminated during the paint process for these cars. I'd bring it up to the dealer and let them know that this type of quality is unacceptable in such a new vehicle even if it is slightly outside of warranty. Unless you've been super negligent with you paint and your car is trashed, I'd expect them to repaint it. Also call the corporate Acura number and report it there too. If they resist at first, keep making it into a big deal. Similar thing happened to a friend of mine with his Honda Civic. Apparently a lot of late model Civics were having issues with paint quality and Honda was repainting a bunch of them as goodwill even outside or warranty.

Typically paint failure happens around 10 year mark, at which point it acceptable to have some oxidization or peeling. Anything less than that is not normal.
