Front Heat to the feet - 2014 MDX SHAWD
Has anyone with a 2014 (or any year really) had a problems with getting heat to the feet (lower area) of the front seats? The blower pushes plenty of heat to the upper vents, but when directed just to the lower (feet area) it just about has any air at all coming thru. I have brought it to the dealer, and the 'technician' had the fan speed up to the highest point making obviously way too much noise - and he said see? there is heat coming out? you could just barely feel any air movement to the lower vent...which I could not even see!
Now that it is getting colder, would like to know if there is a fix for this.
Thanks

Well I have been talking this over with my dealer and it is know to be a design defect that neither Acura or Honda is willing to correct. Most owners just put the direction of air to the floor ONLY, and the fan on LOW and drive the car until it is warm and able to push hot air. A big part of this working is to raise the temperature to 75, and it will be ready to use sooner than at a lower temperature. Once the engine temperature passes the 1st or 2nd line from cold, you will be able to get warm air thru the vents. Once car is at normal operating temps, heat is very adequate to almost too hot.

How is that a design defect? Almost all cars use heat from the engine coolant to heat the air for the cabin... If the engine hasn't warmed up yet, then you're not going to get heat for the cabin. The few exceptions are electric vehicles -- which don't have an ICE to pull heat from -- and some diesels, where auxiliary electric heaters are sometimes used.
Between the heated seats and heated steering wheel, I'm happy as a clam.

Well, the design DEFECT is that the vents going to the front floor area are WAY TOO SMALL to allow any real air movement to them. Also they DO NOT vent towards the floor or foot area...for some reason they point at the firewall...
so it really seems to be a design defect, of course everyone has their opinion
I also noticed that you are in North Carolina....up in New Jersey/New York City area, we do get multiple days, weeks etc where the temperature is close to 0 degrees...so when the car is cold...ITS COLD.
