In August of 2017 I took my MDX in for service. I was having some trouble with the transmission shifting funny and was told there was a TSB which was performed on the vehicle. Afterward it ran much better.

Last week it was time for the B123 service and I took the vehicle in to a different dealership because of being away from home. Now I know it was really stupid of me to have the 3 service done in the first place since the fluid was replaced in August, and I'm kicking myself for doing it. However, I noticed after the service that my vehicle seems to be shifting funny again like it did before the TSB. I looked over the paperwork from both of the services and I see when the TSB was done ATF DW-1 (08200-9008A) fluid was put in. At the different dealership last week I see they put in ATF-TYPE 3.1 (08200-9017A) fluid.

I have been doing some reading and I see that DW-1 is the recommended fluid for my vehicle, so I'm wondering if the 3.1 fluid is different and if the dealership put the wrong type of fluid in my transmission. If they did put the wrong type of fluid in, should I have concern for driving the vehicle until I get it back this week to have the wrong fluid corrected?

Isn't ATF 3.1 for the 9 speed transmission? Your 2015 will have the 6 speed tranny, which uses ATF-DW1.
I would make sure this is well documented in case of future problems, and have them do the 3x drain / fill using DW1 to make sure you you end up with (mostly) ATF-DW1 in there.
I would also demand some $$ back, as the 3.1 looks like it's about $40 a quart!!!

Yes, DW-1 is the correct fluid for a 2015 MDX. Type 3.1 is for the ZF9HP48 (2016+ non-hybrid).
