DTS neural

To my surprise this DTS sounds pretty darned good. Its a definite improvement over plain stereo, good sound placement smooth sound and it doesn't feel compressed or synthesized. Definitely recommended.

The neural definitely sounds good, though I think the system as a whole is missing a lot of "mid." I've turned the treble down a bit which has helped, but I wish there was a mid setting or some kind of equalizer.

Increase your center channel. That's where your mids reside.

I'm actually learning to appreciate the audio more and more. With good material it sounds very good. The best sources are CD and HD FM stations. BTW AHA also sounds excellent even bluetooth from my android is good. The audio is leaps and bounds better than our Odyssey elite radio and not to far from my TL's generation 1 ELS which was excellent. I have yet to hear an OEM that sounds as good as the TLs regardless of price, the Jaguars bw audio is crap in comparison and much touted Lexus mark Levinson is no better.

Tried it this morning and the center channel only changes the volume level of the center speaker(s). It doesn't alter the tone at all.

True,
but I expected since the center channel is a combination of Lt-Right which should be predominantly voice it would "appear" like the mids were increased. Of course another ploy to "increase" mids would be to lower bass and treble and compensate bass with more sub. I Agree an equalizer would have been nice though I have yet to see an ELS radio with one. Keep fiddling
Note of caution, if you're trying to make Itunes sound better, forget it, many songs on Itunes are "equalized" for earbuds. They have overboosted bass and waterdowned mids. Adjust your audio with a CD or HD radio and get used to the idea that I tunes will sound horrible since the car's audio has enough resolution to show haw bad Itunes are.

I suspect that people who complain that the radio is bad have been using some apple device to test the system not understanding that music purchased from I tunes is pure sonic trash.

My14 MDX Advance has one of the best sounding audio systems I have listened to. If interested there are some audio settings in the hidden menu. To access the hidden menu you press NAV,BACK and MENU buttons Simultaneously and hold them pressed for about 5 seconds. After the hidden menus appear release the three buttons and then press the MENU button by itself for about 5 seconds until the developer screens appear. Settings for the neural sound are on the bottom screen. Before making changes you should write down all original settings just incase you need them later. Also you shouldn't change any other settings unless you know what you are changing.

yup, it's great for certain music/albums, I tend to experiment with it on/off for most albums that we play. It was amazing how it improved the sound stage on miles davis' "kind of blue" album.

really impressive tech, has made the MDX almost as good a place to listen to music as my family room!

I used the hack to get into the hidden menus and then went in to the neural sound menus. Upon getting there, I was unable to determine what any of the settings labels meant. Do you (does anyone here) know the purpose of each of the adjustments? tra up and tra down seem logical but, the rest are greek to me.

If anyone is interested in learning more, I could share what I have learned from DTS and other audiophile boards specifically about meaning of the buttons on this screen.

There's is an opportunity to tweak sound further to your taste with those settings , however I was not able to save them despite save button.
