Apple Car Play -Waze GPS
I know apple car play in in 2018s and 2019s. Anyone using the Waze app via carplay on the NAV screen yet? MDX manual/Instruction book makes it sound like you need iphone tethered to ubs to use carplay?! Any experiences to share about carplay functionality and/or Waze via carplay.

Yes CarPlay only functions when your iPhone is connected via the USB in the center console. There is no wireless support for CarPlay in the MDX.

It works. My wife loves it. She was waiting impatiently for the release. Now that it is here, she is thrilled. I’m glad, as waiting for CarPlay cost me a couple of grand. I had a sweet deal on a ‘17, but she insisted we go for an ‘18+ for CarPlay. Worth the wait she says.

Id wish I could use it but I have a LG phone and once you update to Oreo 8.0 AA doesn't work anymore.

Indeed. Now I am impatiently waiting for Acura to step the game up on the flagship RLX, which currently has no CarPlay. Seriously Acura?

With my problems with loss of GPS/Nav I switched over to Waze Nav and it worked great.

Yes it needs to be connected via USB. We have navi on all our cars but end up using Waze anyway for obvious reasons. May not get navi in the future because of this.

Not many high end vehicles come without navigation. It is an unnecessary option for some that is forced upon you.
