Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet or if it's listed anywhere, but the '17 MDX has LED front turn signals. It's not the bar across the headlight like the ILX and RDX, it's in the outside corner. I saw a new Advance with the hazard lights on at my dealership today, looks good. Rear turn signals are still halogen.

I actually like the current sheild grille. Why did they even get rid of it?

Lol I don't know who this mohawk guy is, but shouldn't that have sent red flags to the people in charge that this guy shouldn't be styling a luxury car? I wasn't sure if I hated it at first, but seeing it next to the older one in that pic, I really hate it now. It is WAY too big. And it has no brand dna anymore, the shield/beak has generally been the acura grille for the past 18 years....you don't see bmw getting rid of their kidney grilles for a reason.

Coming from a 14 MDX, I just saw the new 17' last Friday at my nearest Acura dealer. Only one at the lot and its a base MDX white and parchment interior. First impression was how big the front diamond design grille and its emblem. I guess they are trying to make a statement on the new MDX. Then I see a lot of chrome accent on the front bumper center, bottom side skirt and rear center. Big improvement is that they bring back the dual exhaust outlet. Interior, pretty much like the previous model except now it have the electronic gear selector and among other stuff. Did not test drive since I have a 14 MDX so pretty much know how it feels. Final verdict is the overall design looks very nice. Like how they added more chrome accent on the exterior to bring out the design of the vehicle. Really liked how they improve the headlight. As far as the front grille goes, it haven't grow on me yet but it might be a hit or miss if you actually see it in person. Only complaint is that White exterior only comes with parchment interior and not in ebony.

i played around with it again and noticed that occasionally it will default back to parchment when you select WDP, but it will still allow you to select espresso when on the base model and up. However if you select ebony it automatically bumps you up to the technology package. It's probably just weird programming that makes it default to parchment even though there are two other colors available. I don't see why they would add ebony interior to the 17 WDP RDX and take it away from the 17 MDX when they know it's a desired combination.

However... The grille does suck well, not so much the grille, but rather the big stupid looking logo. But let's be honest- that's easily fixable. Personally, I'd just rock the grill without the badge for a cleaner look.
the front end does look a bit "out there", but honestly, I think the older MDX was waaaaay too watered down. Same as the RDX. I liked the previous iterations (1G RDX and 2G MDX)- then Acura made both vehicle look so vanilla and boring.

Looking at the two you posted:
black accents vs chrome accents- not the same.
honeycomb infill vs horizontal line infill- not the same.
shiny black horizontal accent up top vs none at all- not the same.

He's a designer. This doesn't surprise me the least bit. Many designers tend to be excentric looking and they push boundaries when it comes to looks- whether their own, or whatever they're working on.

Even the interiors are so vanilla and boring, a sea of matte black plastics...not exciting at all. I like it back in 2005-2007 where Acura was innovative.

Was @ the dealership & they had a 2016 Graphite Luster Metallic right next to a 2017 Modern Steel Metallic; I definitely like the Graphite better. The refreshed model is nice but the emblem is huge ...

I finally seen the refreshed 3G in person at the dealer yesterday. Some visual observations I had. The badge is not nearly as big as I imagined it was and the grille is not nearly as ugly as it appears in pictures. The dealer had a 2017 model next to the 2016 and I honestly couldn't notice much difference at all, I don't know if I prefer the pre or post face-lift model to be honest.
The rear exhaust tips on the other hand are ugly af, like seriously they almost look commical like a cheap chinese ebay add on accessory. They are weird shaped and vertical for some reason giving the mdx a weird rectangular appearance from the back. So IMHO the front update is almost pointless and the rear update is a major step backwards.

Saw one at a dealershpip when I was there for serving, The logo/Badge is definitely huge but the overall difference is very minor, I think I like the older grill better.

The grille looks absurd in pictures, but in person it is almost a subtle tweak. I was much less visually offended than I thought I would be lol.

I just saw the new 2017 MDX at the dealership today - I must say that I was surprised by how good it looked! :-)
Sure, the Acura badge within the grille was big, but it looked just right there. Listen, the Mercedes badge is even bigger and I don't hear people complaining about that!!! :-)
The grille itself looked much better integrated in person. In fact, I saw the 2017 and 2016 MDX side by side and I must say that I really prefer the 2017 design.
I also took a look at the interior too (in the Elite trim) - the contrast stitching and piping looked very nice indeed. It makes the interior look much more upgraded.
I think that Acura has a winner here... :-)

I think the best thing about the new grille is how it reshapes the headlights. They look much more aggressive with the top tapering out instead of the bottom.

Finally saw the 2017 upclose. I actually like the shape of the new grille. Looks much better than in pictures. Its the huge logo that kills it though. That thing needs to be shrunk.

Reading some of the comments puts me in a mood somewhere between annoyed and angry. First people bitch about the shield, then people say they want the shield back; what the hell? It seems like it's impossible to please people. First it was to bland, now it's too bold, lol.
Personally, I think with the new grill Acura is moving in the right direction. In my opinion in looks good both in the picture and in person. The seats and contrast piping, as well as real wood trim in the Advance trim is a winner. It really makes the vehicle feel and look a lot more upscale. The only thing that still bugs me is the infotainment system. Other than that, good job Acura!

It is no surprise that Acura can't get wheels or grille's correctly if their lives depended on it. So in MY OPINION, people's criticisms are well justified and in MY OPINION the new grille really is a subtle tweak in person so people should see it in person before formulating an opinion.

Traded my TLX in for a '17 TLX Elite and I'm very happy with it. The tranny shifts way better in the MDX then it did in the TLX. The grill and symbol are a bit big, but I think the new look overall looks much better. I found the previous years kind of generic looking. The Elite interior with the real wood and upgraded seats and details are super nice too. No complaints with the new MDX at all.
