ACC & CMBS Can Not Operate Radar Obstructed
Need some help. Hit a dog with my 2014 MDX SH that required a new radiator and condenser, lower bumper cover and air dam, as well as, some misc brackets. Since the accident I intermittently get a warning ACC & CMBS Can Not Operate: Radar Obstructed. Body shop worked with Acura people and did what they could but said if it happened again it would have to back to Acura for realignment. Well of course it happened again so off we went to Acura. Now I am not the biggest fan of my local Acura dealer service but what is my other option (2 1/2 drive to next dealer). They pulled code P2583, dirt on radar. They cleared code and checked alignment, drove and no further issues. Only a $130 so wasn't to upset. Well 15 miles later the warning is back on. Called dealer and they quoted me $6,600 for new radar unit. When this condition happens it will not allow use of cruise control. Warning stays on for period of time then goes away and can use cruise again. I just cannot believe that this needs a new radar unit Any suggestions on things to try? Car has brand new battery so cannot believe I have voltage issue. Damage from accident was all well below the radar unit but believe that this was unplugged when radiator and condenser were replaced.

If you were in an accident, then its quite possible the lens is cracked or damaged. Insurance should cover it. How about the wiring? Loose or bad plug can cause all sorts of issues.

Did you go through insurance?

Have open insurance claim but concerned that with this sitting 2 feet higher than where damage to car was, they may balk at the $6,600 bill. Rest of repairs came to less than $2,000. Wondering if there is a way to reset this system to see if that will get it back to normal.

Hi, I have a similar issue with my 2014 MDX. In my case i had previously replaced the windshield so i am not sure this could be the cause of the error code that goes off and on. How were you able to fix the issue on your car?

Radar obstruction
I have the same problem with my 2014 MDX. Was quoted $8,000 to replace. It periodically works.
dealership cleared code, made sure connections were ok and it worked for a day. I was told the radar on my model was only used in 2014-15.
seems irresponsible for Acura to have any one component cost that much. If technology was not advanced enough for it to be warranted more than 4 years, they shouldn’t use it, especially at that replacement cost.
I have had 6 Acuras going back to ‘95, including a current 2019 MDX as well.
Have always liked Acura and their service up to now. This totally devalues this car.
Has anyone installed a used unit? The dealership will install and calibrate ($800), but won’t warrant.

Radar Obstructed - FIXED
Problem: Radar Obstructed light on dash, ACC CMBS inop. No accidents or unusual incidents to cause this random part failure.
Dealer: it will be $8600+ to fix
Me: bought used radar for $300 (numbers must match exactly) and replaced. Error lights gone and systems work fine.
Dealership analysis
How can any one part be that much to replace????
