Newbie here and needing help with dash cam direct wire issue. I installed dual dash cams in my 2018 MDX Advance SH-AWD and I am trying to find an always-on circuit to tap. I have a fuse tap kit with 12/5v converter. My first try was the horn fuse; it works fine for parking mode with ignition off and driving except for one quirk, the power actually cycles when the engine restarts after idle stop is engaged. You would think the horn circuit would always be on since there is power to the fuse when the ignition is off and the horn works. I have run my wires similar to OP's and need to access fuse boxes in driver's foot well area. Any suggestions? TIA

You can try the power seat fuse for the driver, or directly to the battery. There should be unused grommets in the firewall that you can route a cable through into the engine bay for the direct power option. I'd also use an inline fuse.

Thanks! I’ll try the seat fuse first although the battery direct would probably be the surest solution. The direct wire kit I purchased on Amazon is double fused; there is an inline glass fuse and the fuse tap has a slot for the original circuit fuse and a 5 amp fuse slot to complete the circuit to the inline fuse.

I plan to go in for the rear taillights seal recall in the next couple of weeks and will ask a service tech if there is an available cabin fuse solution. I’ll update when I have a working solution.
