2018 MDX Arrival?
Anyone know when the release date (delivery to dealers) is for the 2018 MDX? Currently attempting to unload my RX and wondering if I will see '18's show up anytime soon. Thx.

I'm wondering if the 2018 model will get the updated infotainment system just like the 2018 TLX? (more intuitive menu, capacitive touch screen, Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, etc.)
|
I wished they’d update the infotainment system like the TLX on the new MDX for 2018, that’ll get me to buy one sooner than later. But then again, I have my eyes on the new BMW X3 M40i or Mercedes GLC. :D

In all of the reading I have done on the '18, I only see that Acura MIGHT update the infotainment center. I hope they do and not only in the MDX!! Otherwise the '18 will have no meaningful changes, if any.
|
Currently the only two issues preventing me from getting the MDX is the infotainment system and VCM. I can live with VCM, but after trying the 2018 TLX infotainment system in the showroom I can tell you that the capacitive touch screen is light years ahead of the resistive touch screen. There is also a permanent HVAC menu bar on the bottom that has the fan speed adjustment, so you no longer need to dig through two layers of the menu just to change the fan speed.
It will be awkward if Acura decides to only update the infotainment system for the '18 TLX and '18 ILX, but leave their best selling MDX and the flagship RLX with the old infotainment system. But then, some Honda vehicles have more updated infotainment system than Acura, so I won't be surprised if the '18 MDX is a carryover from '17. |
For the 2018 MDX, other than the following items below, as noted in TSB 17-036, it is a carry over model year:
Simplified On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD) Operation ODMD operation has been simplified for many commonly used functions. See the owner’s guide or online owner’s manual to learn more about this. Multi-View Rear Camera Activation Time The multi-view rear camera in the 2018 MDX meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 for camera activation time when shifting to Reverse. Do not use this vehicle to compare camera activation times for earlier MDXs. |

Boy, Ain't that the truth! |

Based on the service information, the 2018 MDX should have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Check out this site for a better explanation: What Are the Differences Between Capacitive & Resistive Touchscreens? |
I personally doubt if response time is due to touch screen reaction
The lag I saw in 2014 RLX and now in 2017 MDX was well before you touched anything. In the RLX, the delay was there whether you used touchscreen or the knob. You could try to rotate the knob and select characters and it was futile. It was simply underpowered from a HW perspective which is sad. HW these days is so cheap |

The ODMD touchscreen is a new capacitive display that is more responsive to touch. New software speeds the system response time and simplifies menus and features for a more seamless user experience that's approximately 30 percent faster. |
WOW!!! I actually can't believe they are putting the screens from the TLX in. Great job on Acura, very pleasantly surprised that they did that, but it almost proves that the MDX will follow the 2G cycle and therefore expect this body style to stay throught 2020. But I'd be lying if I said the infotainment is what has me mostly excited. I've been hoping and wishing and hoping and wishing some more that the MDX will be available in san marino red. I almost feel like someone read my post on here a month back where I said I would LOVE to see the MDX available in a deep bright red. I can't wait to see it.

October has come and gone. . . . time for the ‘18 hybrid! Anyone have the scoop on anticipated delivery to showrooms? I already heard winter, but I also heard end of October. I guess the real clue is when you finally build one on the Acura website. Right now only ‘17 hybrids can be built.

^^Interesting. I do see several '17 hybrids in this area as well. But the price of those isn't moving south by any means. If I am going to pay close to MSRP for a '17, I may as well sit tight, wait for the '18 hybrid. True there is not much difference, other than the Car Play, and oh yeah, a SLIGHT price increase! I can expect to pay close to sticker for that. :ugh:
|
18 Hybrids are due in January 2018.

2018 MDX car have been at the local dealer
I saw two 2018 MDX cars at the local dealer here in Florida over a week ago.
|
^^The non-hybrid MDX is available. It is the hybrid I am holding out for and checking for expected dates to show up at dealerships.
|
Acura increased marketing support for MDX Hybrid-lease interest rate is .00028(.672%) and dealer lease incentive is $3,500. Was quoted $887 for 10K lease of Advance model in September-just signed contract today for $650/mo zero down 8.625% sales tax included. Previous interest rate was 4.08% and zero lease incentives. .
|
Was at the dealership today for regular maintenance on my RLX and asked about the '18 hybrid. I was told it could be any day now as this particular dealership said they are no longer receiving '17 hybrids and can no longer order them from corporate. I mentioned you still can't build an '18 hybrid on acura.com, but you can still build a '17. I am pretty sure they still have no idea. I also asked about the RXhL (the new Lexus RX with 3 rows) . . . . . . they weren't in the mood to talk about that. LOL.

I am looking at ordering a Sport Hybrid 2018 because I can't find a 2017. The Acura plant has been relocated to Ohio so new models of MDX Sport Hybrid are due here in Chicago area in 2- 3 months. Not sure what the best rout to purchase a new Hybrid is. Looking at True Car through USAA. Any advise??
|
^^About to start the same process as soon as the Mrs. decides on the color combo she wants. I too was thinking of using an auto buying service, but I want to do some more homework. I was looking at TrueCar, but also was considering AARP, AAA, and Costco. I believe several of them operate on the premise the car you are after is already on the lot. That puts a little wrinkle in the process.
I am surprised to see that you say it is a 2-3 month lead time. Is that for a special order? Based on the Feb 1st press release, I was under the assumption the vehicles were already making their way to dealerships. That is a huge wow if it will now be April/May before they show. |
Moose66,
This will take time as assembly has moved to Ohio. I will probably not get into a car until late MArch.. |
Considering all MDX production was moved to Ohio late last winter/early spring, I still find this interesting. I may be stopping by the dealership this week/weekend to get a feel for pricing and availability. If I find out anything, I'll report back.

That’s a great price. What part of the country are you in? I checked the Costco price with a dealership here in Northern California, they said it is $750 off MSRP. |
