Now if only they had a single screen.

I complain, but in all honesty I think all the automakers using touch screens are screwing up the AA/CP integration. I would much rather have a clickwheel than non-tactile touch screen implementation.

Many 3rd parties provide phone mirroring. Why not the car manufacturers?

What's more mind boggling is people that haven't purchased an MDX up til now because of the lack of CP/AA.

Why can't apple just allow that in car play? Probably more simple...

how likely will people with the current MDX be able to update their infotainment to get this latest version with apple carplay?

Not very likely at all. It's both a hardware and software change. Acura has not done retrofits in the past, so no reason to believe they will start now.

Right. And that's not just an Acura thing. Across the board, MMI systems either have the port to your phone or they don't.

The neat thing is, once you have the connection to carplay, the actually Carplay settings are determined by your phone.

Mazda claims they can add it to existing hardware when/if they decide to. Color me skeptical.

I’m pretty sure Apple has established minimum hardware requirements that carmakers must meet to use their software. One of them is a capacitive touchscreen. If I’m not mistaken, the ‘16 has a resistive screen. Therefore a software update is not possible.

Too bad that there may be no retrofit from Acura for new AA/CP. Would love to have it on my 17MDX.
I will wait for the one with AA/CP to come out and someone to break into it and comeup with some custom way or DIY retrofit.
I know Navtool has already come up with car play on any car tech. AA/CP May not be worth it for some, as Navtool gives screen mirroring capability.
But new iPhone 8/8 plus/X has wireless car play with wireless charging. Who does not like wireless world!

Will wait and see!

Apple believes that there are security concerns with the Google API, and Google does not like having to comply with Apple iOS requirements with its applications. Google and Android exist for data mining. That is their veritable raison d'être.

If you visit the US government sites that host mobile applications, you will notice some interesting differences in the services and agencies that have both Android and Apple applications, and those that allow only Apple applications.

In 2012, the US government experimented with a "secure" version of Google Android, but it did not work out well enough for some agencies to use it.

Do you know anybody who's using Navtool on a modern Honda or Acura?
