What has been the experience with the 2017 transmission? Some of the reviews have been very unfavorable. I am thinking about a 2017 MDX as an upgrade from my 2013 RDX, but I sure don't want to jump into transmission problems. Also, what is the verdict on the push button shifting?

Ive had 12', 14' and now 17' MDX. I think the 17' is much improved from 14'. I actaully was not very happy with the 14' tranny..17' is much smoother.

Had a 2015 TLX with the ZF 9-speed and push button shifting. You'll get used to both, as did I, but I never really "accepted" either one, and traded the TLX for my current 2010 ZDX.

10,100 miles on my 17 since 2/4/17 and I have experienced zero issues with the transmission. Just ran to NJ and back this weekend and managed 26.5mpg at 75mph with 4 adults and luggage.
It shifts a little wonky at low speeds when really cold, but most newer transmissions do the same.

for what it's worth, mine 17 with less than 4K miles is already having leaking transmission.

Yeah, I saw your thread. I hope your experience is unusual. I drove a 2001 MDX for 105,000 miles with no problems. Went for an RDX when they switched from the turbo to the V-6 in 2013. Haven't had any issues, but it is a little small, so I think the 2017 MDX will do it for me.

1-2 shift can display abruptness when cold, but otherwise its has fine characteristics in my opinion. Seems to be a little hesitant when you command a downshift when driving at medium speeds but it's not a sports car.

My 17' has around 1600miles and has been top notch with no issues. And my wife's 17' has around 2200miles with no issues...

Zero *major* major issued with my 2017, but are you guys getting a 1 second delay when up shifting using the paddles on sport mode?

My '17 Tech SH-AWD only has 5000km, and I swear the shifts were almost instant a couple of months ago.

I did a lengthy test drive yesterday. I thought the transmission was very smooth. I was very impressed with the way the car drove and with the features on a 2017 MDX with SH-AWD and Technology Package. The Acura sales guy did mention about a short delay when shifting with the paddle shifters in some situations. Specifically, he mentioned down shifting when going down hill to slow down without braking.
