2017 Acura MDX BLACKOUT PACKAGE

Hello all,
Just posting for fun some photos of the new 2017 Acura MDX with the blackout package. Its an aftermarket package which is essentially a chrome-delete on the entire car along with 22" Rims. Some parts are wrapped, some parts are painted (ex handles), and some are powder coated (rear exhaust).

ENJOY

This looks like the Lexus RX crated line. Acura shouldve colored the white side mirrors black too!

Digging the black but not the white. Grille on the white looks even larger than it already is

REALLY liking that black on black one. However it looks incomplete with those silver headlamps. If they would make them black inside the lens like the mercedes models, it would look sick!!

What is the width on those wheels by the way?

Looks like the wheel offset on the black MDX is all screwed up.

The wheels are sticking too far out from the fenders, and are gonna rub under heavy loads.

Hello all!

The blackout package is about $6,000. Also your looking at a Tech ($49,000) so we added fog lights ($900). So asking price is around $56,0000 with everything depending on rim choice and other options.

Yes the photos are old however we still keep doing these! The store have sold about 7 or 8 of these. People are using these ideas and we are tailoring it to their desires. Example last week I sold a White Advance SH-AWD and we did the blackout package but used different wheels plus painted calipers red.

Around my town I keep seeing a couple of these running around. It is awesome to see one on the road they are total eye catchers!

is the black out package on all the trims painted or vinyl wrap? Looks like the front and rear center garnish are carbon fiber wrapped.

DOOR handles should ALWAYS be body color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(in the 90's base cars were always black plastic handles, the upscale luxury models always had painted body color handles.)
plus, black handles on a white car makes it look like a panda...

Its a mix. Some is vinyl wrap like around windows, handles are taken off and painted, rear exhaust powder coated, so different things.

And yes some of the handles we have done body color. The white looks really good when handles are painted white. We have had people request it both ways.

I'm not too crazy about all the chrome on the MDX. The blacked out look or the A-Spec MDX look more sporty to me. I blacked out my 19 MDX and 18 RLX with plastic dip, vinyl wrap, dark rims, tinted windows, and painted calipers.

Found an installer that does the work from his house last summer. He taped everything off and used a matte black plastic dip on the MDX. Not sure how many layers he applied; but, it is very durable against road debris, weather, heat, cold, pressure/hand washes. The only time I had to re-spray was on the front grill area when I didn't clean bug guts off for about week in +100 degree weather. The baked on bug guts dis-colored the plastic dip and started to come off when I scrubbed a touch too hard trying to remove. Zero issues when I clean the bug guts in a few days max. The plastic dip is looking good and holding up perfectly around my exhaust tips on my MDX and RLX.

I did gloss black plastic dip on the chrome on the RLX and gloss black vinyl wrap around the chrome windows trim.

I recommend anyone looking to do this have it professionally done, vinyl wrapped, and not plastic dipped. In the original photos, we sent the cars out to a local shop. Plastic dip on a $50-$60K Acura will look cheap in a couple years, vinyl will hold up better if done right.

I wanted to do a wrap and I talked to about 5 installers around town for prices and opinion about blacking out the MDX's trim. Pretty much all of them in consensus about not using vinyl wrap on small tight corners or high heat areas like the tailpipe outlets. Prices varied between $700 -$900 to black-out the chrome on my MDX Adv. The installer said they have to sometimes re-install wrap around tight areas on personal vehicles that would cost a customer $50-$250 a pop to repair. A few of them suggested plastic dip in matte or gloss for tight corners, high use areas like door handles, and exhaust areas.

So far, the plastic dip has been holding up to normal wear/tear/weather/washings/exhaust heat for almost a year for $550 per vehicle. I've been very happy with the results. I it matches perfectly and looks factory along with my PPF and ceramic coating on both vehicles.
