I have a leased 2014 MDX Tech SH-AWD and I have been less than awed at its MPG (usually about 26-27 Highway, lower when mixed). I was wondering whether, despite the 1 MPG lower Highway rating, the 2016 got better MPG in the real world due to the 9AT. If you cruise at 70, I would imagine you would see a 2-3 MPG bump with the 9AT.

Yeah highway my wife driving as high as 31 mpg consistently. When I drive for some reason that 26 or 27 mpg mark :P Combined usually closer to 19 or 20 (more city than HWY) I have AWD w Advance. I will say the gas tank seems to last forever compared to my old RDX, have gotten almost 450 miles out of one tank on those highway trips.

Have you notice any problems with the 9AT such as sluggish downshifts or rough 2-3 shifts? Thanks!

On my commute, I average 25-26 mpg, but I'm in quite a bit of traffic everyday. I also have a lead foot.

Most at of the time, I don't notice hesitation, but it does appear every once in a while. It's definitely not as bad or as frequent as I was afraid it would be. It does, however, feel quite big and heavy, and feels like it could use another 50 hp to move it around. I'm coming from an RDX that I pounded on pretty good and it felt like a go cart compared to the MDX. They are just completely different vehicles. I do feel much more relaxed now on my long commute, so it is helping me.

I am averaging 23.6 over 8k miles, generally driving 5-10mph over the limit, making me one of the slowest drivers on the road here in Northern Virginia.

You guys are good. I average 18 mpg over 7k miles and usually drive about 85 mph on freeways, 55-60 mph on local. I'm a torque guy, so I agree that the MDX is lacking in that department (for this weight, we need about 310 ft lbs for it to feel nice and light). On long trips, I can manage about 24-26 mpg going about 80 mph the entire way.

Little sluggish accelerating from a move (ie highway lane changing) otherwise it's great off the line and no problems with downshift.
