2014 v 2016 MDX

Good afternoon. I am looking at the above model years. The 2014 has tech and entertainment package. 2016 has tech only package. Both have roughly 37k miles. Age old question, which one should I get? Thanks!

You should drive both to decide which transmission you prefer, but generally the 2016 has more bug fixes than the 2014 does. IF you do not need the ENT package for kids in the back, even better.

I drove them both. I couldn't really tell the difference between the two regarding transmission. What do you mean the 2016 has more bug fixes? I have a 2 year old so ENT package could become more important.

Oh ok that's good. With each year, they fix more and more things they learn about from the prior model years (check out the TSBs threads here posted by EE4Life). They don't always fix things in the older models, but you'll notice improvements in the later years. For example, the infotainment is the biggest gripe for 2014 owners, while 2015 owners got a decent update to fix a lot of problems, and the 2016 is also slightly better than both. Also, one things to note is that the 2014-2015 need to have their ATF flushed and reprogramming to the tranny because of premature ATF failure on those models causing torque converter issues. If you go with the 2014, I would ask the dealer throw the 16-062/063 TSB into the deal. Other than that, there's really not too much different about those years IMO maybe except for leftover warranty (probably gone on the 14, but still there for the 16).

Thanks for the reply! I'm not a car guy really and new to acura cars. So when you use acronyms I'm not sure what they refer to. What is 16-062/063?

Wow! Thank you! So the 16-062/063 is the most important item that should be repaired on this list?
