2014 MDX Windshield Stress Fracture
This is the weirdest thing. I came out this afternoon and glimpsed this nasty C-shaped split in the windshield starting at the roofline and curving down around to the left under the rear view mirror unit.
First of all, I thought windshields were supposed to crinkle up not split like that. I have seen that kind of thing before with a pair of Oakley Romeo sunglasses, where the screws in the X-Metal put stress on the edge of the lens and caused it to split laterally in a stress fracture.
Second, there are no signs of any impact or anything. We had the car washed on Saturday at the same car wash we always go to and didn't see the crack afterwards, but what could they have done anyway to cause this?
I called the service folks and they said to call the insurance company, but I am thinking about taking it in and having them at least see it. I am looking for advice in this situation, thanks!!!

Took it into the dealership and the Service Manager showed me a tiny impact point on the outside of the windshield. With the massive swings of temperature we've had, not surprised (in hindsight) that we got that kind of split. False alarm. ;-)
