2014 mdx tire size question
Hi guys, I have a 2014 mdx with the advanced package and 19" rims. I hate the small tires it came with and when I went to town fair tire they claimed if I went bigger I could ruin the transmission which I thought was bs. So my main question is do you think I'd have a problem running 265/50/19's. Another tire place said I wouldn't have a problem because there's a less than 3% increase.

I would suggest you never let the guys at the first shop touch your car. You definitely won't have any transmission issues.
You can go with larger wheels but ideally you want to keep the same rolling diameter which means you'd have to go with tires that have a smaller side wall. There are sites that will help do the math for you.
Going with 20" wheels and tires that have less meat on them could result in s slightly harsher ride. You could also experience less than optimal driving performance in winter times if you live in areas with a lot if snow.
As long as it fits and you don't go too big where the tire will rub against the fender when you hit a bump you wil be ok. Keep in mind that anything that changes the existing rolling diameter will impact your odometer accuracy over time.

Do you have any pics of these tires mounted/installed on your MDX? I also have a 2014 and would like to get a beefier or wider tire. How do you like them on your MDX?
Thanks!

I run a 265/50R19 tire on a 8.5" wide wheel. Sorry, I don't have any pics.
The speed difference at 65 mph is only .5 mph.
IMO, I don't feel that there is a significant visual difference between stock and the 265 on my 8.5" wide wheel. I think you would have to be on a 9"+ wide wheel to see a big difference.

The stock 19s come with 245/55 tires, which have a 29.6" OD. The 265/50 is chosen because it is wider but has about the same OD (29.7") depending on the brand/model tire. A 265/55 could be installed on the same wheel but would have a diameter of ~30.5". Yes, either tire can be installed on the stock 19" wheel.
