2014 MDX jerks at 40-50mph

I recently purchased a 2014 MDX with 44k miles on it. Around 40-50mph the car jerks badly. I either have to let my foot off the gas, or gun it to switch gears. I pretty much cannot cruise at that speed without the jerking issue. I brought it into the dealership and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I feel as if it is getting worse and it is driving me nuts. Any idea what it could be?

Need to determine if it is engine or transmission. Try locking the trans in 5th gear, and see if the problem goes away. Try the same test in 4th gear also.

Does the RPM fluctuate when this happens? If so it may be the torque converter. There is a TSB for it.

Yes, the RPM bounces up and down when this happens. Any idea what it will cost to replace the TC if that's what it is? (sounds like it from the service bulletin)

It should be covered under the 6 year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Looks like a trip to the dealer is warranted. Good luck.

Check out the TSB linked above in post 3. The “flush” procedure is on page 5. Also note there is an 8 year 80,000 warranty for this problem.
