I was able to install by myself sport rear step. This was my first DIY. (I don't even have an experience of changing/rotating tires.) It was actually very hard. Took 3 hours. Advance running board is quite easy: just attach it. But, rear step needs to remove the original panel. And, I have to buy a torque wrench. I love the rear step's look. It's worthy for my little kids.

Now, I'm considering installing front sport lower trim. (Rear sport trim is really simple to do) Is there anyone who install DIY? Essentially, it's simple steps: (1) remove the front bumper, (2) drill, (3) attach. But, removing the bumper looks quite challenging. I don't have even a drill.

If I make a dealership to install the front trim, what is the typical cost? $100 or so? I will buy the parts from an online shop.

Nice write up they look great! I would strongly consider taking your time and doing the bumper trim yourself. Im not saying all but most dealer techs will rush it put your bumber on a dirty shop floor and throw it back on allot of times not seating a few clips or reversing screws all because they get paid by the job and the quicker they finish the more jobs they can get and make more money. My point being if you take your time and do it yourself it will be done right. I taught myself to pull bumpers along time ago and once you do it you will realize its not that bad. As far as advice do all the side clips and scews in the front of the wheel wells first. Next do all the underneath screws and clips. And last do all the top (front of engine bay clips and bolts. There is a black plastic trim cover the runs across the top when you open the hood and it pulls right up gently starting with a side. Also pu a nice blanket down and do not forget to disconnect the temperature sensor usually in the middle but may be attached to the front bumper beam and not the bumper on the 14 mdx. Also you can put blue painters tape along the headlights and the front corner panels where they meet the bumper to avoid scratches.

I like Weathertech all season mats but their website doesn't show them for the 2014 MDX yet. I'll wait on them. I have a FWD Tech and the FWD's don't come with a spare tire - only a tire repair kit. This is totally unacceptable to me and I think Acura should be ashamed of themselves. They don't even provide run-flat tires. Regardless, I want the security of a spare tire. I was the first to point this out to the dealer (they didn't know about the deleted spare) and shamed them into adding the spare tire kit at no cost to me. I had the trailer hitch installed and it fits within the rear bumper just fine without hanging down. Had to wait on the wiring harness for about a week since the initial ones got a stop order put on them (wired wrong). Everything is good now.

I'm still thinking about splash guards.

No running boards for me. This MDX is quite a bit lower on entry than its predecessors. I'm average sized and don't need them.

Thx! Site is working. Might do the advance board myself, seems pretty straight forward. Any idea if any of these DIYs might void any warranties?

We decided against the splash guards ... Figured we could always add them later ourselves, but your car pics helped confirm our choice

That Honda site has some quota for downloading. If you have a problem of authorization for downloading, try to use different web browser and also try to use incognito mode or so.

Meanwhile you can download from my Dropbox. I didn't download all instructions though.

Looks like it is available now, but limited stock at dealers. And it is showing at Acura e-store again.

Good question, I don't think so, but it is better to ask your dealer to make sure.

I got the splash guards (and no running boards) and love them. Keeps more of the crap off the doors and paint. I think they look nice too.

Where did you hear about the availability and limited stock? My car should be coming in any time so I'm hoping the fog lamps are available. Last I'd heard it was October for earliest availability.

It's available now, just bought mine, but they don't have many available.

Thank you very much for downloading those and posting your dropbox link. The docs have been pulled from the Honda site.

How did you get the dealership to not put on the front license plate?

Tell me about it!! I just picked up my MDX and it has a huge crack on the windshield. Yes, right on the pick up day! Yesterday when I stopped by the dealership after work to check up on their progress in installing the accessories and it was in perfect condition and ready for me to pick it up. As it turns out somebody drove it to fill in the gas in the morning and came back to the dealer with that crack. And I have to see it first thing in the afternoon when I came to pick it up. Pissed me off so bad that I almost NOT wanting to buy it anymore.

I would refuse to take delivery of the car. Even after the windshield is replaced, it may not be the same, e.g. wind can get into the cabin. It really depends on the tech's quality and experience. You can either tell them to get you a new car, or give you some free stuff if you do with the windshield replacement route.

Well, they sold me that car for $200 below invoice. Plus, they already installed a bunch of accessories per my order, so I thought it should be OK if they replace the windshield with genuine Acura part. However, I'll have to keep in mind to make sure they perfectly seal the glass again to avoid any gain in wind or road noise. Other than that, the car gives me a sweet ride and fun to be in.

200$ under invoice is a great deal. Just make sure there is no extra wind noise and you should be good to go. Enjoy the ride and post some pictures.

A list of the accessories I have are at the bottom of this post. The accessories personalize the car to it's owner. I think they make the MDX look better. I didn't get the sport bumper trims because I have the trailer hitch and you cannot use the rear sport trim with the hitch and I didn't want to get just the front. Wasn't sure if it would look good only on the front.

I'm debating if I should try the fog light install this weekend myself. I'm kinda worried about removing the front bumper. I've been searching the forums for someone who's done this themselves but I haven't seen any complete pictures. I've already done the running boards, rear sport bumper, roof rack, splash guards, side body moldings all without any issues.

Ive checked the instructions, the bumper stuff looks like the easy part, its the prying and tearing apart of the interior that concerns me the most. One slip with the screw driver a pry at a wrong angle and you end up screwing up the interior plastic. Unless you're really committed id leave it to the dealer. If they break or scratch something they have to fix it.

Here is a link to my Advance SH-AWD that came in last Wednesday. The car is getting detailed and opti pro. But you can see the exterior accessories as well.

It took him one full day to get the car detailed and removed all imperfections in the paint to get it ready for opticoat. I dropped it off at 8AM and picked it up at 5:30PM. I'm pretty sure he worked nonstop the whole day to get it done since it gets darker soon.

I would appreciate any recommendations, especially from past/existing MDX owners. Thanks!

I just purchased my MDX 2 weeks ago and had the sport running boards installed. I think they look like they're integrated in my opinion, whereas the Advance I feel look aftermarket-ish and awkward. The car is so low now that I don't feel running boards are a necessity for ingress/egress, but I like the look with the integrated sport ones.
