2014 MDX Accessories
I want to have an idea which accessories are useful/important to have with the MDX. I'm planning to have the front and rear sport bumper trims, body side moldings, and splash guards. I'm still undecided with regards to the running boards? I don't know if they will be useful since this MDX will be my first SUV. Does the MDX also look better with running boards installed?
I would appreciate any recommendations, especially from past/existing MDX owners. Thanks!

In my opinion, All Season Mats, Body Side Moldings, Splash Guards and Running Boards are the way to go. The front and rear trims are nice, but if cash is a concern, I'd go with the items I posted first.

Yes, I plan to get the all-season mats too. Just want to know if the running boards really serve a purpose now aside from aesthetics, since the new MDX is lower than the previous ones. I also read in another thread that running boards even make it more difficult to step in/out of the vehicle.

I'd agree on body side moldings and splash guards. Actually picked mine up today. A nice black on black AWD tech.
For me Window tint was a must have due to the Oklahoma sun and the rear cargo tray. Personally I don't like the all season mats but I did get them as well. Wife likes them and the dealer had them in the package price already. Not a lot of dealing on a car that's been on the lot for a day and they already sold the only other one they had 30 minutes before.

Also want to know what'd be a good mats for MDX 2014 with kids? I'm also looking for WeatherTech, but seems to wait a bit more to get a customized mat.
Thanks to California weather, I'm okay without fog lights and heated steering wheel

It would be nice if the new owners post photos of their 2014 MDX with accessories installed. It'd be great to see real-world photos of running boards, front and rear bumper trims, fog lights, etc. installed on the new MDX.
Thanks!
Thanks!

2G TLX-S
There seems to be quite a handful of selection choices of cloth/rubber/folding/cover/liner/mat for the rear cargo area.
I'm completely confused as which one is actually needed and is useful ?

I saw a blue MDX with front/rear bumper sport trim. I liked the front but the rear looked mismatched as the matte look did not coordinate with the chrome. The front coordinates with the hood emblem frame. It had chrome roof rails and I didn't connect with the look. Also had the rear running board, which didn't look bad (or necessary). It did not have the side molding, which I was interested in seeing.
Me: all weather mats, wheel locks, splash guards, cargo mat (had all in my 2010 MDX and was happy with those choices). Also front bumper sport trim, maybe door trim and all window IR tint (in Texas). Thinking about the clear bra but not sure yet. Picking up a black/black FWD Tech in 10 days.

sorry I just came in to the house, in my opinion, go to acura dealers where you can have these items. I love have the same brand even to the least item....all the same. All season mat will do.

If you have kids - all season floor mats are essential. I'd consider the rear seat cover as well - they make a large seat cover that covers the entire back seats - both the seating portion and the seat backs - if you have kids/car seats/etc - your kids will spill anything and everything and a large cover would save your rear leather. If you have lighter colored leather - even more important as that stuff will discolor and stain easily.
Running boards are great. makes getting into and out of the car easier, and helps people exiting the third row as well.
I recommend the roof rack / cross bars. If you ever plan to do a road trip and haul a lot of stuff - and might want to fill up the third row with passengers, you'll need a cargo top box to haul your stuff.
I also think the car looks way better with the roof bars..it gives the car a more aggressive look.
my white MDX has black running boards (which I preferred to the sillver / chrome ones) and I have the black roof top runners / cross bars... along with tinted windows, it make the car look beefier. when I see MDXs that lack the running boards and top bars..they look wimpy to me.
good luck.

Thinking about the rear sport trim ... What does everyone think? It breaks up the black on the back but not sure the trim matches with the chrome on the back.
Plan on going black with:
- front sport trim
- body side moldings
- advanced running boards (although reports of how it looks in person has me nervous)
- rear sport trim ?????

The only exterior accessory we're committed on having is the roof rails. It does give the car an SUV appeal, while without it the car looks more like a wagon. Still looks pretty good without anything.
We've seen the advance running boards in person, and they look good but bulky. It really is for aesthetics as it got in our way of getting in and out of the car. Haven't seen the sport running boards but that may be our next accessory since it's much more subtle.

I probably will get the sport step running boards. I think they blend quite well with the MDX. The body side moldings, front and rear bumper trims, rear bumper protector, and splash guards are also in my list. I'm getting the Advance trim, so the roof rails are already pre-installed. Now, I just have to wait for my order (Forest Mist/Eucalyptus Advance) to be delivered.
Anyone have the sport step running boards already installed on their MDX? Photos are much appreciated. Thanks!

I didn't care for the chrome roof rails on the blue. Probably look better on silver or white. Might look good on black too so I may reconsider. Ugh...decisions.

What exterior color are you getting? I think the rear bumper trim would look good on silver and maybe white but your absolutely right that it is distracting on dark colors since the rear has all chrome. I saw it on blue, thankfully, and marked it off the list. I am getting black.

My full list of accessories:
(Roof rack comes on Advance pkg)
- heated steering wheel
- cargo liner (dogs)
- all weather mats 1st/2nd row
- advance running boards
- body side moldings (although not sure I like how the rear door moldings seem to angle up)
- fog lights
Sport trim front?

IMO, since you are getting the Advance Running Boards and also the fog lights, I would pass on the front sports trim. The chrome flows so well already and even though the matte finish would match the band, I think it looks too busy. This vehicle only needs a few accessories to make it that much more appealing.
Also I'm passing on the side moldings. Although they are functional, to me looks out of place for some reason. Might blend in more with black though.

You guys are really making it a hard decision for me on trims (all good points)! I want to add some personal styling (front trim) but don't want to over do it (side moldings). Thanks for the input!

In Search Of Sunrise....
IMO, the Advance looks 100 x better then the Sport running boards.
I'll be going for the following:
- Advance Running Boards
- Front/Rear Sport Trim
- Roof Rails and Cross Bars
Also, very curious to see how the integrated fogs will look in real life. Considering those as well but want to see these in person.

Trailer hitch
Anyone have any experience with the trailer hitch install? Not sure if the new bumper trim is included or not but it looks fairly straight forward. Dealer here is way over priced on the install.
