I installed the Xpel Headlight protectors for my 2014 headlights and they are great! It was pretty easy to do, especially considering it was my first time. They don't offer protectors for the fog lights (yet) though.

For those of you wishing to see the before and after view of the Acura 2014 MDX with installed accessories, Acura has an app called the Acura Accessories. You can view the vehicle from different angles and with a simple swipe you can see the vehicle with all the accessories or stock.

Just got my 2014 SH-AWD, Advance Tech with 19" chrome wheels, black on black. Still waiting on the LED Fog lights. The wheels really stand out with the subtle chrome details on black.

Are the fogs programmable to be on by themselves w/o the DRL?

The factory connection is such that the foglights can only be turned on (using the foglight switch on the steering column stick) when the low-beam headlight is on.

Anyone know if we can swap the fog light bulb for a higher wattage and/or different temperature (ie 4000k, 5000k, 6000k)? Anyone know what kind of bulb the oem is?

Thx

Hey, how well do the fog lights match the color of the headlights...I have a 2012 TL and I hate that the fogs don't match the hid's

The fog lights are LED and the light is white, not yellow. So its much closer to color of headlight, but its not exact. According to instruction, if the light goes out, have to get a new light assembly. Does not appear you can change out the light. If anyone found out different, chime in.

Both are fog and head lights are using LED technology, so the color of them will match pretty good.

I was hoping to put in a yellow bulb in mine when I get them. Sounds like this isn't possible.

Unless you want to put on a yellow film over the lens. But I don't think you can change the bulbs or LED's.

I put on a clear film on my fog light to protect it from stone chips. Its basically clearbra 3M material that I had a guy do. He even did it for free because it was basically a small light. Window tinting places should be able to put on the material or you could do it yourself. Here is a video:

Thanks on the suggestions to do yellow film. I tried that on my current 2gen and it didn't come out so well. I will try it on new one once I get it. I still have some yellow film from last time so it won't me anything to experiment. Thanks again and I'll post a pic once I get it done.

Hi Alex, what can i use to clean the shiny part from the grille? By the acura logo area. Feels like aluminum with silver coated.

Thank You.

So we do not have the option to set them to light up at the same time with the headlights?

Thank you.

No we've already been through this. its against federal law. The only way to do so is to jerry rig them through a separate switch.

I think your question was misread. I don't think its a problem if they go on the same time you switch on your headlights.
Leave the fog light switch on all the time. When you switch on the headlights, the fog lights will turn on at the same time.
Fog lights can only light up with headlights on.
For me, I don't want them on all the time, until I want them on.

Someone took the pictures of the before and after the installation of the LED fog lights. Apparently the kit comes with the brand new control stick by the steering column (with the knob to turn on the fog lights).

Correct, in the kit you get a replacement combination switch for the fog lights. Its directly next to the headlight switch.

By federal regulation Fog lights have to have a switch that turns them off automatically if high beams are activated.
Most if not all manufacturers slave the foglights to the regular lights, thus its impossible to turn them on without turning on the headlights.
If you ever see a car with fogs activated separately from the headlamps its aftermarket. If they stay on when the highbeams are on, its not only aftermarket, its jerry-rigged to bypass the obligatory switch they must all have.
If you want to pay for it its in SAE J583 which is the standard the government uses in this regard

It would have been nice if they had at least tied them to the DRLs. After all is there really any difference between the DRLs and the low beams ?

So will the factory Acura LED Fog Lights be ok and legal? The kit comes with the combination switch (with the fog lights switch) which to replace the factory combination switch (w/o the fog lights switch).

Yes, $385 shipped and yes they are legal. This setup works as prescribed by law. The only work with headlights on. They do not work by themselves, DRL, or highbeam. Go to Amazon and search for fog light 2014 mdx.

Only if the factory LED foglights are installed exactly as instructed in the corresponding factory installation sheets; then YES, it will be legal.

thank you for the list. according to the e instruction website for honda and acura, they stated that the kit cannot be purchased separately, must purchase as a whole, so got me worried. glad to find your link of components.
