'17 MDX Elite/Advance and slow brake 360 degree camera

Picked up a 2017 MDX a few weeks ago and really like the use of the 360 degree camera, having it come up automatically when the vehicle speed drops below 20 KM/hr. Then when you start rolling again it switches back to your normal view (mine being the nav). My problem is that sometimes when I get in the car and drive and eventually come to a light or stop sign the cameras don't come on and I have to press the "camera" button to enable it and it will work from that point on. Sometimes it does work, other times it wont. I thought it was somehow linked to starting the car and waiting until the dislaimer screen shows the option to press "OK" but that is not the case

I am confident I have it enabled in the vehicle settings but not sure if something else is casuing it. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, I would love to hear from you as to what you did to address the issue

I did not realize there was a setting for it to come on automatically at low speed

yup. It is located in the display between the speedometer and odometer under 'vehicle settings'. Great feature

I found that after fiddling with the options that I needed to start the car moving by FIRST using reverse then slowing down will activate the cameras.

If I start the car and start moving FIRST by using drive ie moving forward then the camera is not activated hen slowing down.

I did not know it could do that in the first place. I only use it for parking situations.

I don't see any setting that is activated at "low speed". There is a setting to activate front camera after using Reverse and then the front camera goes off after reaching a speed. I aalso see a setting to tun it on when decelerating. Is that what you are talking about?

ok - I turned on the setting for on during deceleration. It came on at very low speed when coming to a stop. However, it would drive me nuts so I turned it back off.

lol. I came from a '15 TLX so when I took it for an extended test drive it bugged me a little as it was like noise in my peripheral. But since making pulling the trigger and making the swith, I actually like it. I have an 8 year old child and there are lots of kids around where we live. Being able to see around me as I turn corners at intersections I find it helpful. Also, some tighter areas helps me make sure I don't scratch the lovely 20" rims it came with.

Cheers,

Thanks Jerry... I tested your method and that worked for me. Unfortunately I back my car into the driveway so always leave in drive, not reverse. Quirky for sure. Hopefully this would get sorted out in a software update.

just push the camera button?

I hope they do NOT change this function, via software update.

Agreed. I don’t want them to get rid of this function. I just want it to do what is supposed to do and that is activate the camera when slowing down without having to always press the button.

it does work that way... but if your complaint is that it doesn’t come on from “Park” then that isn’t “slowing down”

No...I don’t mean from park....I actually know the difference between park and slowing down. Anyways I was just sharing a comment about how it doesn’t work in my car on a consistent basis and that hopefully a software update will make it more consistent.

My new 18 does the same thing. Apparently there are not enough complaints, for Acura to come up with software patch.
