Sport Hybrid Spare Tire

Sport Hybrid Spare Tire
Has anyone installed the spare tire and spare tire kit on a 2018-2020 MDX Sport Hybrid? If so, where does the tire mount? Does it completely take away the under floor storage compartment? Any photos you can post on this thread? Thanks!

On regular MDX the spare tire is underneath the car. I believe I have read here somewhere that is the same for the hybrid. To verify you can also crawl under with a tape measure and look.

go to the dealer and buy the spare tire mount kit, then toss the donut spare rim in the recycle bin, get a full sized rim on ebay etc. and get a useable full sized spare mounted. Now you have a REAL spare. FWIW the MDX is one of the few SUV's that has a place for a FULL sized spare. Others we looked at either had run flats or donut spare. so if you got a flat, I guess the passenger gets to hold the spare on their lap if the trunk is full
It takes about 15 minutes to mount the spare tire kit and you can do it w/o putting the car on a lift or up on ramps.
The tire mouts UNDER the floor pan, doesn't take away any interior room.
if you look under the car under the floorpan on the rear you will see a plugged hole for the cable and the points that the tire will pull up against. a cable goes through the center of the rim and you crank the tire up against the floorpan with the jack handle until it starts to click
Others have posted photos of a full sized spare on an MDX. hybrid or "regular" MDX is identical. A full sized spare does stick down a bit below the bumper, but I doubt it would ever be an issue.

Above is an old thread of what you need to add a full or donut spare to the MDX hybrid. The hybrid can also take aftermarket or OEM hitch if you need to carry bikes or cargo carrier. You can also add aftermarket 4-pin flat or OEM 7-pin harness. I added the 7-pin OEM harness because both my bike rack and swing out carrier have lights.
I recently added the OEM hitch+harness to my hybrid with a full size spare right before lockdown to get ready for spring bike riding season that didn't happen:
