Sport Hybrid Owners?
 

Considering stepping up to a 2018 Sport Hybrid. Who here has one, and what are your thoughts? Looks like they're pretty hard to find, which I assume will make getting decent amount off MSRP difficult.

It did take more work for me to find the right Sport Hybrid (Silver/Greystone) and get a deal, but it's worth it. You need to take a long test drive in both gas and hybrid models on the same day. The difference should be apparent in performance, ride and handling. I felt I was getting more of what I value and therefore I was willing to pay more. Good luck..

I agree take a representative test drive and you will see how great this vehicle performs.I have mine since early November and it has performed to my expectations and then some. The reviews on Youtube and in print tempted me to test drive it when my 2015 lease was expiring. You have the best of both worlds -an AWD beast with a sporty performance tilt as well. No towing capability but that was no issue to me. Good luck with your search-I think it will be worth it !!

The hybrids have been rolling out of the plant since last month. I spent about a week in early February working with the local dealers in my area. Some were hesitant to do any deals as they had no vehicles on the lot. I was able to find a dealer, about an hour or so drive from my house, who was willing to search for what I wanted. Deal is for 5K off of MSRP. I put down a deposit on 2/14 and am waiting for my Black Copper/Espresso to show. Should be at the dealership in a couple of weeks I was told.

I drove both the normal and hybrid versions last year (2018 normal and 2017 hybrid). Hands down the hybrid was the better driving vehicle in my opinion. I thought the extra power gained from the electric motors was great and I am more than happy with the 7 speed tranny, especially after hearing complaints from those in the normal version. I wasn't too concerned with giving up towing capability in the hybrid. I don't tow anything, so it is not needed. I am probably a little biased to the hybrid as I already own the RLX Sport.

I made the switch to Acura after being a Lexus snob for years. I just wasn't fond of the styling, especially the grills on the the new Lexus vehicles. I traded in a GS450h to get my RLX, and sold a RX450h to get ready for my MDX. I am more than happy with my choices. I think the quality of the Lexus vehicles is above par, but Acura is not too far behind. Where I think Acura wins is with the value, what you get for what you pay, especially in the area of the standard safety features. Plus the Acura styling is not flashy, but slightly above bland. More to my liking as I tend to like a little chrome here and there, but not blinged out, as they say.

Thanks all. I've bene speaking with my dealer, whom we've bought two previous Acura's through, so there's a level of trust. And working directly with the owner, so that helps.

Based on what I'm hearing, just getting them allocated is a pretty hard thing to come by. He's got one coming later this month, but only a Hybrid w/ Tech. I'm in the market for the Advance Model.

I'm seeing a few pop up. Arlington Acura has two coming their way, one is White/Black w/ Advance which is on my list of color choices.

Ideally, I'd like to buy through my dealer to continue the loyalty built up over the years, so I doubt I'm going to make a move on it. Not planning on using a buying service. Having the car isn't a must, I can walk away, so that's all the leverage I need to get a deal that I think is fair (for both sides).

Bergalicious, The price you pay depends on the timing and dealer cars in stock. I shopped summer to fall, dealers would only go down to invoice plus $500 to $1000 on what they had in stock. Also the dealers knew they had a limited model and would not trade with other dealers as they do with the gas model. I only deal with the internet department, not sales people on the floor. I heard some folks say they got a better deal on a 2017 Hybrid in Dec when the 2018's where starting to arrive. Good luck

Tranny, ride, power. All worth it. Only thing i didnt like was the insurance increase of 30 bucks a month. Came from a 2015 shawd tech

Deals can be had on remaining 2017 hybrids if you can find one. My dealer had one he was offering 10K off of MSRP (that put the vehicle in the high 40's). It was still considered new, but was actually a demo they let folks test drive. I gave it a thought, but really wanted the new infotainment interface and the CarPlay. At least my wife wanted those things as this will be her daily vehicle. That means I can get my RLX back!!

Is the 2018 infotainment really that much better? I've read various articles/reviews, they all talk about it, but I haven't been able to quite figure out what is different and why it's better?

Just drove both, was impressed with the Hybrid. However, with the incentives on the gas MDX v. Hybrid, we're talking a $3.5K delta between the two in terms of selling price. Quick math, I'd be lucky to make that up in gas savings in 6-7 years which is about when I seem to be turning cars over. So outside of having it just for the Hybrid tech and bring "green", the Hybrid is not a better deal financially. If the gap was closer to $2K or less, it could be justified.

Leaning towards the 3.5L.

I like the 321 horsepower in the Hybrid, so I got that one instead.

What did you end up paying?

The 7 speed dual clutch on the hybrid is worth it. I have 13,000 on my 2017 with no issues, Advance version

I paid about 54,000 not including tax , title, etc... I felt it was fair.

The final "Agreed upon Value of the Vehicle as equipped at the time of lease signing" $51,937 . 3 year/12,000 miles Residual $29,733.20

I bought a 2018 Tech this last Friday April 6th. I'm in Southern California and I used the Costco auto purchase service. I had been quoted $700 off MSRP without using Costco and then $700 off invoice after setting up the Costco service. I had to wait 2 weeks for the vehicle to arrive. When they called me that had arrived it still showed on the Acura site as being in transit. I couldn't make it there until the next day and by then they had already installed "a protection package" of 3M door appliques, wheel locks, tri-fold cargo tray, and splash guards. The quoted increase for those was $1200 but they discounted those %15 because of the Costco pricing. I added front and rear parking sensors and rear bumper guard.

Just hate that practice of padding the price with accessories.
