Question SH-AWD system problem light on 2017 MDX tech AWD

I got SH-AWD system problem warning light on and it showed All-Wheel Drive: C1843-62.
2017 MDX Tech AWD with 5700 miles on it.
Any ideas about this problem?

This happened twice within 24 hours. So I brought the car to dealership this morning, they said the error code C1843-62 means LEFT DIFFERENTIAL FLUID PRESSURE DEVIATION. But they checked the fluid OK, no leak. and they tested the pressure 3 times, all OK. which means they could not find anything wrong. What they did is repalcing rear differential fluid and have me drive and monitor.

Red face Error Msg

Looking at your pics, your SHAWD error message is different from the 1 I got. Mine popped up in front of the driver between the 2 gauges and not on the center stack. Hopefully they have fixed your issue. Good luck!

After first repair by the dealership (replacing rear differential fluid), the error message poped up again, really annoying, the dealership now does repair based on guessing? I need to bring the car in for 2nd attemp. Just 6000 miles, Acura is now losing quality reputation.

Not sure, but all these error messages popped up when I was making left turns. And the error code indicate this is left diff deviation. I think there should be something wrong with the mechanic parts not just the sensor.

3rd attempt: The dealership ended up replacing the rear diff carrier assembly (41200-5M0-000), a big piece. Hope it will fix the issue

Hi,

I have a similar issue with my lease.

It doesn't seem as serious. The same image pops up "SH-AWD Malfunction". I turn my car on and off and it goes away.

Only come up sometimes. Had the dealer look at the issue they updated the software and want to change the rear diff fluid for $120.

I told them no as its only intermittent the car is a lease and to me this should be covered under warranty.

Started happening around 8000 miles. Car now has 18000 miles.

Anyone have any feedback?

Thanks,

PP

MID usually calls for a rear diff fluid change around 15k miles... So you're due, if not over-due. Fluid changes are your responsibility -- they are not a warranty item, and the fact you lease does not give you an excuse to ignore maintenance or abuse the vehicle.

Same Problem

I am having the same issue. Started around 70,000. I did the differential fluid service on the required maintenance schedule. I wonder if they maybe did not put sufficient fluid in it. I have taken it back 5 times now and the light keeps coming on. Taking it back the 6th this week. Pretty frustrating.
