Rear side door trim removal

Hey folks, does anyone know how to or have access to the procedure to remove the shiny black garnish trim piece that goes on the rear side doors? My passenger side rear door trim - somehow the black finishing peeled off from the top down and I have a new one coming in the mail. Just want to make sure I don’t break anything pulling it off. Thanks.

(Pic is of the good side since the bad side is currently against the wall lol!!)

Are you still under warranty? Sounds like something that would be covered. You can always return the part you bought

That’s a good point. I bought it used and I believe the previous owner did something to cause the peel, and replaced it with a non Acura part as it looks slightly different than the rest of the trim pieces. I figured easy and cheap enough to just do it myself and put a genuine Acura part back on there. I don’t have an Acura dealer close to me to take advantage of the free warranty repair.

They probably would not do a warranty fix anyway if the part being replaced is not the OEM part.

Exactly. And now that I think about it, whoever owned it before probably busted that piece somehow and went the cheap route and replaced it with crap and now it’s peeling. Luckily that’s the only issue with it that I’ve found so far!

I ended up crushing my passenger side mirror backing out of my garage in my 11 MDX a few years ago. I wasn't paying attention and hit the mirror just right on the garage door opening to crush it instead of folding back. Anyways, I purchased an entire side mirror replacement online and took it to a body shop. I think they charged me around $50 for the mirror replacement. It would be probably less for that trim piece.

Good call. A body shop would be a great option to keep from doing "bodily harm". And it shouldn't be a big deal for half hour or so of labor.
