Insurance cost increase

My insurance went up around 30 bucks a month and was told by my agent that cost to insure the mdx. Anyone else here from socal had their mdx rates jacked up?

Been lots of talk about this in the media. Cost to repair/replace such technically advanced vehicles is what the reason is supposed to be. Expensive tech parts. You’d think the improved safety features would lower the rates. Quite the opposite it appears.

Myriad data points go into determining your personal rates, so you're unlikely to gather much from posting here. I have to think the billions in losses insurers have experienced throughout CA, TX, and elsewhere in 2017 are one of the data points. I still see flat bed trailers piled high with burned out vehicles.

jb - we were just up in Healdsburg. Not much damage view able from 101 although clearly large patches in the hills.

My 2017 SH-AWD, Tech costs LESS than my wife's 2013 Honda Accord Coupe.

I don't see how that is possible. Your MDX must be worth twice as much as the Accord

If you've been with the same company for a long time it could be they are just hosing you. I was paying around 160 a month for low coverage with a company I'd been with for 15 years. I asked them to lower the monthly amount or increase the coverage for the same amount, or I'd leave, and they refused to do either. I was able to get 15x the coverage for less each month through another company.

Well, my agent told me it was because the Accord Coupe was considered more of a "hot rod".
Jim

MDX $562.50, Accord $643.80 per six months, identical coverage.
Both wife and I have perfect driving records.
