Hands-free bluetooth sound quality

Has anybody noticed poor sound quality via the hands-free microphone?

My wife called me from the MDX and the audio quality sounds like the call from the MDX is coming from a CAVE- super hollow and loud back-ground noise. (checked that the HVAC was turned down)

This is connecting via and iPhone 5.

Both my BMW and VW have VASTLY superior sound quality.

What have your experiences been?

I have this loud background noise, especially during acceleration on both TL and MDX.

Never had a problems, works very well. Best compared to any other vehicle I have owned.
