Front plate installation for 2017 MDX

Hi there,

I am a new Acura owner and new to the forum.

I recently bought a 2017 MDX that arrived from another state to here WA.
The previous owner didn't put front plates, probably because it is not mandatory in that state.
I found a front plate bracket in baggage and installed it in the place where the points indicated in the front bumper.

But the problem is, the bracket doesn't have holes for the actual plate to screw on, there are markers on the correct location for screws but it is impossible to dig them.
Today I went to Carter Acura on Lynnwood to ask about the issue and they told me they can install it but they would charge $50+tax which looked a bit bizarre to me since I changed my plates a lot of times for different cars before this one.

Did anyone experience something like this before?
I wonder how all MDX owners install their plates.

Thanks a lot
Sinan
