Drove over a screw nail. Could hear the bump bump. I notice the screw nail is only half in. I pull it out just in case it did not puncture the tire. I don't hear any hissing. I put some spit where the screw nail came out and see some bubbling.

I get home and jack the MDX up so I can mark the sidewall with nail polish to make it easier to show the tire shop where the screw nail went in. Put the car in neutral and spray the tire to find the hole. Nothing. I did this for 30 minutes.

Checked the tire pressure sensor screen. Tire has not lost any kPA.

Did the tire seal its self??

It did not seal itself - but - some holes only show themselves with extra pressure (i.e. the weight of the car) on them.

If you saw bubbles then there is a leak. Take the tire to shop and have them fix it. Before you drive on it and ruin the tire.

If no leak then nothing to worry, but for peace of mind get it patched. Fixing it won't cost too much.

As an update, I never did get this tire fixed.The day after pulling the nail, I inflated the tires to specification. It has been almost a month since I filled the tire to spec and it has not lost 1 kPA in pressure.

My theory is that when I pulled the screw, the tire closed the hole which caused the bubbling I saw. The screw never did go all the way through, so there was no puncture.
