Best tire for smooth, quiet ride for AWD Tech
I've got the AWD Tech with the 20 inch wheels and I need new tires. My top priority for a luxury vehicle has always been smoothness and quietness of ride, so naturally I have always preferred Michelin.
But this time when I put that priority into the system at the tire shop, it says there is one Pirelli tire (the Scorpion Strada) that is rated slightly higher than the best Michelin tire (the Premier LTX) for smoothness and quietness of ride.
Can anyone here shed any light on this from personal experience? Is it even possible for someone to beat Michelin for smoothness and quietness of ride? I have never heard of such a thing.

Is that your primary concern? What about snow/ice traction in winter or tread life?
Continental makes a few decent tires too. But in general I agree that for all season tires in terms of all around traction smoothness and quiet ride michelin is at the top of my list (I bought premier LTX for my fx35 to replace factory Bridgestone Dueler's, although the premier LTX doesn't have the highest rating for tread life)

Reading the reviews the Pirelli has good reviews, but short life span. When my truck was due for tires I bought Yokahama. I was really pleased with their super quiet ride. I know Yokahama sells a couple lines that have a 65K mile rating and get great reviews for year round driving. Both tire rack and Discount tire have extensive reviews online. Discount tire has been my go to tire dealer for years. Always great service and good prices.

Biggest variable is the part of the country you live in and if you will routinely drive in snow/slush/ice. If so then only a select few all season tires actually have good traction ratings for these conditions. I live in MN so that's the case for me personally. If you live in a part of the country with no snow then obviously you don't care about those specific traction ratings.
But for those that do that's definitely something to factor into the equation as part of your analysis

My 2018 MDX Advance SHAWD bought this past September came with Continentals. I am surprised it didn't' come with Michelins !!!!

I wonder if they switched 19s over to Michelin because of the new wheel width on the A Spec and Advance?
I always thought they came with Continental so was surprised to see my 19 had Michelins

I have wider 255/45/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 18 Tech and they ride quiet, smooth and perform great.

Our 18 Tech AWD came with all-season Contis and I put 245/50R-20 MICHELIN PREMIER LTX SL All-Seasons on Acura black rims and ran those all summer and they were great. Stock wheels and Contis are back on in anticipation of winter driving. And before anyone starts in on "why don't you buy Blizzaks or real snow tires" for our location in Ohio, we get snow on the road that actually stays and is driven on maybe 5 times a year. The VAST majority of the winter, the roads are dry or wet, sometimes a little slushy, and as I said rarely snow covered (for more than a couple of hours).

I have the Continental Cross Contacts on my 2017 Hybrid MDX, smooth quiet ride, even wear at 35,000 with 5/32 left. NO issues whatsover with these tires, rotated and balanced every 5000 miles. They aren't as good of a handling tire as the DWS06 on my A6 Audi but smooth, but the LX20's are quiet and good in the wet for all 35,000 miles so far.

My main beef with my 2018 newly purchased MDX Advance with conti's is the choppy ride around town compared to my 07 MDX sport with Michelins. At least I can sip some coffee without spilling it....not with these Conti's.... both American Tire and TireRack confirmed the same... choppy crappy ride in town and wear fast..... they both said "replace them with Michelin's !!!!

what suspension setting do you use around town? Try comfort and the ride will be much better with the new adjusting shocks. I have driven a similar hybrid with Michelins and mine with Continentals and in comfort mode they are quite similar, in normal or sport not so smooth with either. My continentals lasted 35 K with still 5/32 left so that is hardly rapid wear and NO I don't smoke crack. The Continentals are probably the most quiet tires I have ever had and that includes MIchelins on my A4 and A6 Audis, Conti DWS06 on my A6 TDI.

Donn I kind of figured that too ! Thanks for confirming this... so is the 2018/2019 MDX Hybrid that has the active damper suspension and 20 inch blings choppy too in town driving? I have no complaints on HWY driving other that one time on I-5 going to San Clemente on rough surface it didn't handle it as well as my 07 MDX in sport mode would have... it caught my attention as the LKAS was having a hard time staying planted over bad surfaces (it was not impressive at all as she struggled to keep me in the center of the lane)…..
