If you're serious about buying a particular vehicle, Alex is definitely somebody you want to consult.
Only thing is, if you're *not* in the market in a serious way, you are likely to find him a little long winded. :-)
Very common sense, thorough reviews. He's been around for a long time and I am very glad his reputation is catching up to his excellence.

The way that the rear wheel vectoring is programmed, towing something behind the car would affect how it works and it would serve to make the vehicle a little unpredictable.
It's possible that this could happen in the future, but with a vastly improved and more powerful computer that would be necessary to handle the vectoring.
That the MDX already has a dynamic suspension makes it a little less of a problem, and one way that they could certify the vehicle for towing would be to fix a set torque vectoring dynamic for the rear wheels if the car detects that it is towing something.
But, then, it would no longer be a "Sport" Hybrid.
It's possible that this could happen in the future, but with a vastly improved and more powerful computer that would be necessary to handle the vectoring.

I am following him on Facebook and as soon as he posted this video, I watched it. Excellent review. Alex is by far the most unbiased reviewer in the market. Also, very knowledgeable and he highlights the most important points that a buyer is looking for.
MDX Hybrid will be a huge success for Acura and I am sure all Acura lineup will have a hybrid version by 2020. Alex chose MDX over all competitors (pretty much in this video).
If I decide to change car, I am 90% that I will go for this model.

The other issues are transmission and electric motors overheating. It's not just torque vectoring.

There are other Hybrids that tow. Only difference with MDX is the independent EVs. Tow mode could set that ICE is always on like Sport - perhaps even tone down the EV boost, but it would not have to be very sophisticated.

Bought an MDXHybrid yesterday, Advance, white/ebony. Most all of what Alex said is true, it is a much better driving vehicle then the 9 speed. The ride is also much better, running in comfort mode for 160 miles averaged 31 mpg mostly at 45 to 55 on winding country roads, the electric cuts in much more often in comfort mode then in normal or sport it seems. Each time it does it seems seamless, you have to look at the tach to see what changed. Nice car.

My lifetime average on my KC2 is 31.5 mpg, and I will very often get more. My driving is mostly 45-60 mph, also on country roads probably like the ones you're using.

Hey man, sorry I just seen this post right now. Yes I bought gorgeous (IMHO) top of the line Sorento SX AWD in black on black a couple months ago. I get a good 550kms in pure city (read 75% heavily congested traffic) driving on a $50-$60 tank and with it only weighing roughly 4100 pounds it is much easier to drive and much more car like than the MDX was (though the 3G MDX is WAY more car like than the 2G was too). It drives very smoothly and the steering has very good heft to it as well, it has dual flow dampeners making the ride sporty when I want it to be and otherwise mostly comfortable when I want it to be as well. It is also quieter than my MDX was by a large margin. My number one gripe is that I no longer have SH-AWD. That was my number one selling point for both the MDX and RDX and now that I don't have it, this is the first time I feel like the front wheel drive architecture is hampering it a bit. All my previous vehicles were longitudinal based AWD crossovers (quattro and X-drive based) and the RDX/MDX had SH-AWD so I didn't care about the FWD basis. It still handles very well for a 7 passenger family crossover (who am I kidding it is still a crossover) but with a better AWD system I would have been much happier.
